I bought this katana at the same time I bought the Musashi 1060 Carbon Steel Differentially Hardened Katana. The Musashi sword came in a nice cardboard box where this sword was generically packaged in a protective foam container. The Musashi is noticeably heavier, but I can't tell if it is from the blade or the handle that makes it heavier. Right out of the box (just after wiping off the oil), this sword passed the paper cut test with ease and I didn't have to start off with a slicing motion. The Musashi failed miserably as I had to slice the paper first and then about 2 inches into every cut the paper just started tearing. This sword also is much more aesthetically appealing, night and day in the looks department actually. I wish I had bought two of these instead of mixing up my order the way I did, with the hopes that one would meet my expectations of a sword that is both wall and battle ready.

Right out of the box it feels rare and special and when you pull it out of the other box your like,"was this really only 110 dollars?" Because its a real deal katana! This katana is well balance, feels great, is very sharp, and looks so amazing! I dont know if i stole this or not. Ladies and gentlemen if your looking to buy an AMAZING 1060 carbon steel sword, or a sword period and don't wanna spend 400 plus dollars, this is yours to own for a fraction of the value.

I'm not a martial-artist, nor law enforcement or a sword collector. Just an average guy who decided to purchase it for home protection. I dare not test it's sharp edge but, will rely on the advertising that it is actually sharp. I do like the overall balance and feel of this sword. I don't think it's the professional type like in the movies that can cut through bamboo and such but, for my needs...it'll do.

I have only purchased one other Katana before that was twice the price and they are both 1060 grade. The only difference I can see is no blood groove on this one and No hamon line. But it’s very sharp cuts just pushing through the blade. I would say that for the price this is probably the nicest one your going to get.

Shipping was fast. I ordered on Friday and got it Tuesday morning.The sword is beautiful and the scabbard fit tightly. It is razor sharp out of the box. The blade had zero blemishes and I could see my reflection. It easily passed the paper cutting test and it cut plastic gallon jugs of water with no problem. Also made quick work of a cantaloupe.No loose parts and no rattles. I will really enjoy showing this piece off to my friends. The scabbard fit really tight and made drawing the sword somewhat difficult to draw at first but I worked that out. Otherwise I could not find a thing wrong with it.Great Product that I would definitely recommend to others.

Very impressed, this is a well made, solid sword. Flawless craftsmanship. Feels good in hand. The wrap on the handle is pulled very tight and looks to good to get dirty, since this will get used, I wrapped sports tape and foam (keeps tape from sticking) over the handle and the sheath in order to preserve the original look.I will be purchasing a couple more from Siwode, and I also would recommend this product to anyone else in the market for this type of sword.

This is my first sword from Siwode and I have to tell you it will not be my last. It is well made and beautiful. It is also functional. I think that it is worth more than I paid for it.
