New pedals for a new rider
Easy to install and solid build for the price.

Great pedals
Nice pedal and easy to clip in using Shimano cleats. The functionality and performance of using this pedal versus not using a clip in pedal is a game changer. I was a bit worried clipping in and out would be difficult but its actually very easy so you don't have to worry about tipping over at a stop.

High Quality
Unless you're a weight weenie, these are the best pedals for most roadies. They can be removed and installed with a standard pedal wrench, rather than only with a hex wrench.

Good buy.
Great buy. Easy to install and use. Nice and sturdy. Didn’t even adjust the clip in/clip out resistance. Perfect out of the box. The clips/cleats on the other hand, the work mostly well. Just that they don’t seem super durable. Lost of indents already just from clipping and one is even slightly broken already after only 2 days. Not a deal breaker though. I’d buy replacements to have when they finally give up.

The Cheapest Shimano SPD-SL Clipless Pedals – Still Shimano Quality
I ride multiple bikes and am always looking to add another into the garage. Triathlon, road, MTB, fat. One thing I keep common across the bikes are pedals. I have Shimano shoes, I use Shimano SPD-SL cleats, I need pedals to match. These are going on a fat bike that currently has platform pedals, so not worried about weight. Yes, I am putting SPD-SL road cleat pedals on an off-road bike; totally violating all bike norms but I already have the shoes. As this thing is a fat bike, weight becomes secondary. I pay less, I get 100-grams more; yes my tri-bike has Dura Ace where grams and performance matters. Here I want clip-in/clip-out using the same supporting equipment I already have. I still get Shimano quality. These even came with a brand-new set of yellow cleats; bargain. Pay more, get less weight. Pay less, you don’t get Shimano.

Shimano PD-RS500 SPD-SL Pedal
Replaced old Christophe clip in pedal system; this system worked great for commuting. The new Shimano PD-RS500 SPD-SL Pedal system will be for faster pace workouts. I want to keep my knees from straining, hence the 6 Deg of play will aid in fatigue. I get a significant more efficient stroke; almost effortless. I do have to deal with the cycling shoes for walking. Each time I get off and on the bicycle, position is perfect. I avoided more Shimano expensive pedals; minus 3.0 ounces for $280 is a bit too much for my 170lb frame, 19lb bicycle, wallet. Build is aircraft aluminum and high strength steel shaft; off-brands use ??? Clipping in and out is almost effortless. Cleats can be set to less than 6 Deg release if heel is moved inward. I do ride more comfortably with my ball of my foot close to the center of the cleat.
