Very informative
I bought this for a Professional Development opportunity through my school. This is a great book with lots of information and great strategies. I would definitely recommend to any teachers working with beginning/emergent readers.

a must read
A wonderful resource for teachers of young readers. Collins and Glover provide ways to support readers who are not yet conventionally reading while also guiding those who are. No matter what your core program is, this book is a must read for Pre-K, K and 1st grade teachers!

Love it!
I love Kathy Collins and her work and this is no exception. A nice easy read which has left me reflecting on my current practices and thinking about my next steps for reading.

Kathy Collins and Elizabeth Sulzby: Indirect collaboration in Emergent Reading and Writing
Kathy Collins gives a deep example based contribution to my work on emergent reading and writing by adding features of children's relative familiarity with specific books from children's literature. She also includes examples of fiction and non-fiction. Her writing is warm and deeply cued into child development. Unfortunately, she did not have further developments of Sulzby's (my) KLP but attributed things she had perhaps heard in oral presentations or third person descriptions but her treatment does not trouble me much. I look forward to our further mutual contributions in these areas.
