These work. Simple as that, they work. My daughter‘s bedroom had a musty smell for 15 years. I tried everything. I tried raw onions we even had it repainted. I put baking soda under her bed. Nothing worked. I bought these and within a day the smell is gone. My bedroom also had a yeasty smell. I googled it and it said it’s probably some type of fungus. I left a vegetable in the veggie drawer when we went on an extended vacation. We always dump our ice cubes (side-by-side, built in fridge), and I was surprised that they tasted 'funny' the next day. I measured the amount of UVA and UVB light that gets through the double layer bag holding the charcoal: in direct sunlight, producing 262 microwatts/cm^2 the bag blocks all but 39 microwatts/cm^2 (only 15% gets through). The top layer of charcoal would stop any light from reaching anything below. The standard ways to regenerate activated carbon are: Regeneration / Active Carbon Activated carbon is an expensive product. In most of the cases the cost of replacing the saturated carbon would be prohibitive. It should therefore be regenerated, and four methods have been developed for this purpose: Steam regeneration This method is restricted to regenerating carbon which has only retained a few very volatile products. Thermal regeneration By pyrolysis and burning off of adsorbed organic substances. In order to avoid igniting the carbon, it is heated to about 800 °C in a controlled atmosphere. This is the widely used method and regenerates the carbon very well, but it has two disadvantages: it requires considerable investment in either a multiple-hearth furnace and it causes high carbon losses. Chemical regeneration Some process based on the action of a solvent used at a temperature of approximately 100 °C and with a high pH. Biological regeneration This method of regeneration has not yet been applied on an industrial scale.

These are wonderful!! I started using them the day I received them. I put one in the garbage can under the bag and there is much less odor now. I hung them near the litter box and the pee pads. We were gone several hours two days ago. For the first time in a very long time, there was no odor when we walked in. These did the trick. I'm very happy I found them. I highly recommend them for getting rid of odors in the home.

I'm not sure how well these are working, but they do give me a bit of peace of mind that they are soaking up the odors from the men in the house. The car, the closet, the bedrooms all seemed to have a lingering odor, and now it seems better after placing these in strategic locations. I like that just putting these in the sunshine 'recharges' them for further use. They come with handy hooks for hanging in closets. I'm happy with this purchase.

I was reluctant to try these but am glad i made the purchase. We put one in the fridge and it removed the smell of pungent fruits (e.g. rockmellon). We also put one in the car and laundry and its been great.
