Challenge 50114 Turbo Troll Bait Bucket, 8 Quart, White

I like this Blue and White Turbo Troll Bait Bucket, #50114 - 8 Quart, by Challenge Plastics as an addition to my bait hauling duties. It can be carried right to the Trough where they sell bait, filled with water and loaded up and then covered to avoid loosing any minnows or shrimp, even if tipped over. When in the water at the side of the Kayak, it is easy to grab, open with a push of the hand and the top springs back closed. I added a piece of small shock cord on the lid to pull it back closed and the minnow net is tied to the shock cord also. I easily lifts onto the kayak for moving and then right back into the water again. Easy! And it effortlessly gives the little guys some more fresh water. It drags a little if you paddle with it in the water, but not too bad. I have a air bubbler stashed in the kayak with a 12 VDC lighter plug for on and off. Easy! I prefer it to a Larger bucket and it is reasonably priced at $12.34 delivered free with a Prime membership, of which I can say mine has paid for itself, with just the music I get free and the free delivery is just a bonus many times over.

I purchased this bait bucket for the otter proof features which work well. The problem is the blue and white sections are separating. I have not had this happen with other brands.

This is used as a minnow bucket, replacing a yellow and black bucket that was frequently “broken into” by predators. This bucket is a little larger, so more room for bait. The door stays closed, and if needed will allow for a lock to be attached. Bucket lid will also stay open so retrieving bait is easier. This is the best bait bucket I’ve ever used.

The locking feature has kept the otters from opening the bucket and eating all the minnows. Worth the price just to know my bait will still be there in the morning

Don't buy this. I did last winter and the bucket lasted for one fishing season. It split in half right where the white an blue plastic is glued together. Useless. I contacted the seller (Lee Fisher International) and was told they couldn't help me because the warranty had expired. I don't know about their warranty but I do know that the other trolling bait buckets I've had (the yellow and white ones) have lasted over ten years. Lee Fisher International tells me I have to contact the manufacturer. Hassle!

In addition to being sturdy and functional I’m pleased that this bait bucket can be locked. Occasionally I’ve had bait stolen overnight by egrets or otters looking for an easy meal. They’re smart enough to push the door open and steal all of the bait!
