Good value for the features included
For a unit with humidity control this is reasonably priced. It also has a lot of features / settings that can be adjusted fairly easily from the menu. This is handy for adjusting the speed / timer / humidity target level. I wanted the flex outlet at the bottom as can be seen in my pictures so. Had to move the little magnet to the opposite corner to get the kair logo the right way up and not trigger the unit’s safety feature, was fairly easy to do although you then have to adjust settings with the display upside down which wasn't too bad and once done your unlikely to need to adjust much again. Happy with this unit so far and would recommend/ use again. Instructions were good and overall I'm happy with the quality. Comes with a pull cord but this can be taped up and put inside but ensure the boost light is out before you put cover on otherwise you will need to go back in to pull the switch , mine came with the switch set to on.

Replacement working
Replaced an older extractor fan with this fan, and the original fan ordered stopped working, with or without the cover on. However, it was otherwise what I needed, and it didn't seem like other people had the same problem, so I ordered a replacement. The fan is very effective at keeping humidity down. I notice that my bathroom mirror doesn't steam up during my short showers. It is also fairly quiet in its constant mode, but definitely not silent... See video attached. The high speed mode - activated by switch - has a roll-over timer, but that only works if you turn it on for more than 3 minutes. Apparently my showers are too short! There is also the humidity sensor, so it definitely takes care of any humidity from showers, but if you go to the loo then just remember to turn the switch on first.

Perfect for en-suites
If you have an en-suite or a bathroom close to a bedroom then you’ve probably had the desire to either make the extractor fan quieter or shorten how long it runs for after the light is turned off due to noise. Unfortunately if you shorten the timer too much or turn down the fan speed you end up with damp problems. This fan works really well, since the humistat, which works well, allows you to have a high (and therefore noisy) fan speed after a shower or bath and it will run until the bathroom is back to your houses “normal humidity”. However you can have a lower fan speed (and hence noise level) for when the light switch is on. This is perfect as the fan can be setup such that it’s only audible outside of the bathroom after you’ve taken a shower bath. The “run on” timer is also adjustable, so you can have the fan switch off straight away when you leave the bathroom, perfect for middle of the night use to minimise disturbing sleeping. Practicalities Making adjustments to the settings is easy as the face plate is magnetic. I had to adjust the humistat trigger level down as the normal moisture level of my house was triggering it. I made my life difficult by playing with the pull cord before installing since the pull cord was left in “on” position so the fan was just running at full chat no matter the circumstances or settings. I had hidden the pullcord in the unit, so I had to take it apart again to put the pull cord in to “off” and then rehide the pull cord in the unit. When you connect the power, either from fuse box or isolator switch the light switch for the bathroom needs to be in “on” position. Otherwise it will run continuously when the switch is off and turn off when you turn the switch on. The only annoying thing is that the humistat won’t trigger until the light is off. So if you take a shower with the light on, it will run at the normal speed and then will only switch to the level you’ve chosen for the humistat when the light goes off. This is a bit annoying as I had the normal speed as pretty low to be quiet and then a fast speed when things got wet and I had to adjust the normal speed up as it was getting too steamy while showering.

Good fan but ...
Had this installed for 3 months but ... This is a good fan but it didn’t meet my expectations based on the description so only 3 stars. However would probably use again. Good points: It is programmable using the buttons and display, there is a reasonable range of options available. I have used default apart from the max speed with the pull cord where I have gone down one setting, still works but quieter. It is quiet, although it has recently developed a ticking noise after a windy night, hoping this is some debris blown in but have not had the opportunity to check as will need to remove the outside cowl because the clips on the fan broke when trying to remove. There is a low (continuous), medium (over-run/humidity), high (pull cord) setting. It has a pull cord, not ready to go fully automatous yet. It looks “smart”. Bad points: The term “smart” is overdone these days - this fan is not really smart. No choice in cable entry, top left of centre for through wall and top centre for surface. Had to put a new cable in. The reason is that the sides have two circuit boards. I have a background in electronics and I was surprised how much there was. When initially setting up you have an hour where it works without the front cover, after this it stops when the cover is removed, makes later tweaking a pain. I was keen to use the auto humidity setting but I have concluded this is useless, it just causes the medium setting to run continuously, the humidity setting for this cannot be altered, so effectively useless. In summary: I researched extensively before buying this but was disappointed by the actual performance, especially considering the price. However it is probably still the best on the market, the suppliers just don’t understand the market! Think carefully what you need, it may be available much cheaper.

A good bit of kit.
Item delivered on time and exactly as described. Installation instructions where emailed and included in the package. Instructions very clear and straightforward. Fan is very quiet in trickle mode and more than powerful enough in boost. My only comment would be that the buttons and display (only really used when setting operation) are in the top corner making them a bit difficult to see if fan is mounted high. Other than that I'm very happy with the quality and functionality.

Faulty + got unhelpful help + started to make noise after a while
I was initially excited about this product due to its advanced features, but it turned out to be a major disappointment for two main reasons: Poor wiring: The connection strip was mistakenly attached to the wrong pins on the PCB, preventing the unit from starting. After spending considerable time troubleshooting, I contacted support only to be dismissively informed that I wouldn't receive help because I'm not a qualified electrician. It took even more time to discover that the error was on their end. Noisy operation: Shortly after installation, the fan started making a scratchy noise at low speed, similar to what you'd hear from faulty ball bearings. Although it wasn't excessively loud, it was noticeably irritating. I bought two of these fans and both exhibited the same issue. I managed to return one but missed the return window for the other due to delayed installation. As a result, I switched to Vent Axia Svara units which are similarly priced and feature-rich but much quieter. Overall, I am very dissatisfied and disappointed with both the quality of the product and the customer service.

Powerful but quiet.
Very quiet and powerful. Smart settings so it switches itself in humid conditions, keeping my shower room well ventilated, dry and mould free

Good build quality, but the control logic lets it down
This fan is well made and relatively quiet, and the installation was straightforward with a standard 3-pole isolator. The airflow is good, and I appreciated the adjustable trickle and boost speeds, as well as the humidity sensor settings. Unfortunately, the logic that controls how the fan responds to humidity is flawed. If you’ve connected a switched live (e.g. from the bathroom light), the fan ignores the humidity sensor completely while the light is on. That means it won’t ramp up to full speed even if the room is filling with steam from a shower — it just runs at the boost speed you’ve set for the light. The humidity boost only kicks in after the light is turned off, which defeats the point of having a humidistat. There’s no option to allow both triggers to work together, or for the fan to prioritise humidity. EDIT: I have upgraded my review from 3 stars to 4 stars. I went to look at alternatives in the UK market, and it's pretty clear that this unit has the best granularity of configuration and the best UI of anything else available. Most other fans only have 1 or 2 fan speeds. Adjustments are made by turning screws or adding or removing jumpers across terminals. The Kair is so much better in so many ways that I am happy to live with its faults.
