I LOVE this Mirka Deros sander!
I LOVE it! It works SO Effortlessly and Quietly it's amazing! I also got the Hose... I would NOT connect to my Ridgid shop vac hose... a visit to Home Depot for a converter kit solved that problem! I also got some Abranet sanding disks and a Pad Saver. I had some very ROUGH slabs of Black Walnut to use as a Test piece. I had some 5 hole H&L sand paper disks. I was started with 60 grit 5 hole sandpaper disks... I was very much surprised how well they worked! ... The vac. got ALL of the dust... NOT a speck! So, if you have a supply of old 5 hole paper disks THEY ARE STILL GOOD! I went through the grits... 60, 80 5 hole paper disks... Then I switched to the Abranet disks... 120, 220, and 400 grits. All went smooth and easy! The super rough Walnut ended up to be as smooth as a baby's butt! The Abranet disks didn't show any signs of wear... a very good BUY for the money! The test piece of Walnut I used was about 14" x 36" and I did BOTH sides! The shop vac was louder than the sander! ... The sander is super quiet... and fits the hand VERY WELL! I did wear gloves that had open fingers... Noticed hardly any strain. I LOVE the sander... I'm glad I wasn't able to get the Ceros (due to personal problems) and went for this Deros when things were better. I had decided I had to get a good sander with EXCELLENT DUST COLLECTION CONTROL because I had a bad experience with sanding without the good dust control... it really messed me up... eyes & lungs... I could NOT go through that again! This sander is WORTH every penny just for the Dust Control! ... It works perfectly! ... I did NOT notice ONE SPECK of uncollected dust! If you are concerned about Dust Control, I'm convinced... This is SUPER GOOD! You will be VERY HAPPY with it! Of course, I could say "For this price, it should be GOOD" ... It is & then some! Thank you, Mirka, for a Super product!

Best sander ever
I have owned and used a variety of orbital sanders through my woodworking career and this one tops the list. It does the work with ease and little vibration. Super product!

Best 5" sander available IMO. (After 1 year of use)
I love this sander. I'm a full time woodworker and have owned a cabinet shop for ten years. I started out with the standard big box store brand 5" sander that cost around $100. It was fine. But after about a year it actually vibrated itself to death. Falling apart from hours and hours of use. I then moved on the the high end Festool brushless 5" sander. It was around $400. It was great compared to the cheaper ones. Easier to hold and it did a great job. But when you sand for eight hours straight you want the best tool you can possible get. So I got the Mirca 5" sander. I didn't know if it would be better than the festool one, but it is. I like the way it fits in my hand. I like how the paddle on the top turns it on and off. It does a good job. After a year of use I think it was well worth the money. Because I sand a lot of sharp edges I use solid 5" sanding disc. Anything with holes gets riped pretty fast. I swear by the 5" Indasa sanding discs. Even though they are solid this sander does a good job of sucking up all the dust. It has ports that get the dust as it comes off the disc. I know $600 is a lot to spend on a sander, but its worth it if you sand stuff for a living.

Best random orbit sander on the market
I sold my Festool sander after using this once.

Why didn't I get this sooner???
Oh I know…it is crazy expensive. That’s why! Given the price it is a big ask to buy. Yet, it is also head and shoulders above the previous Porter Cable random orbit sanders I have been using. The mirka is easier to hold, works faster and causing less fatigue. The long power cable is a very nice bonus as well! Thus, though it is stupid expensive, I would have to say it is well worth it.

Quit after 8 months. Mirka won't honor warranty.
So very disappointed in Mirka. Sander quit on me after less than 8 months. Flashing error lights and shuts off after two seconds. It was well within warranty, and the tool was registered with proof of purchase, so I sent it in for a warranty claim. I was shocked when the warranty claim was denied because of 'normal wear and tear' It's normal wear and tear for the sander to quit working after 8 months?!? No other explanation was given. I asked what was the normal wear and tear that caused the sander to quit working and was told I would receive a response from the service center. I didn't receive a reply and over the next several days I followed up 3 additional times and was eventually ignored completely. I have two weeks to decide to pay the repair or they will send it back to me with the tool possibly disassembled. (I kid you not, they cannot reassemble the tool if they have had it taken apart due to 'safety reasons' I am now stuck with a very expensive sander I am forced to pay repair costs on. I own 4 mirka sanders, (3 of these electric and one pneumatic) I used to recommend Mirka to EVERYONE, now I am considering trying out the knock off sanders on here. I can't get worse service and can purchase almost 4 of them for the price of this sander. I am SO surprised such a premium tool has such horrible support and customer service.

Amazing sander, when it works
As an avid festool user for many years, i thought there was no greater, but Mirka really topped the charts, that was for the 1 hour and 43 minutes of its life until the motor suddenly quit. With 3M cubitron 2 paper, this sander is pretty quiet, and runs very smooth. The ergonomics are perfect and the Festool 27mm hose slipped right onto the back. The dust port swivels so it just makes it really easy to maneuver when the sander isn't "sanding" The digital speed lights are a bit gimmicky and just flash upon pressing the buttons. The newer Deros 2, in Europe, now provides several lights to take out the guessing game of what speed you're using. Despite the sander dying so early, and never being dropped, I have returned it only 5 days later but have proceeded to try a new unit. There is a 2 year warrantry + 1 extra year when you register, but as this unit died before the 30 day return window, Ill let Mirka eat the shipping costs. If Mirka could get their act together with the motor and speed controller issues, it would be unmatched.

Excellent Orbital Sander
Low vibration, I can sand hours without vibra-pain. Great cutting action on 35-50grit. Quiet too, don't need ear plugs on low setting. I love this orbital. Quieter than Festool. I purchased a vac tube from mcmaster to attach to my hepa vac. Consistent sanding pattern. I use the backer disc to protect the base disc—it's worth it. I don't use metal screen backing discs anymore—edges frey and scratch your work, even on the name brand discs. Some come with freys showing before use. 2000+grit may be ok to use with very light pressure and watching out for edge frey on the disc. White or Gold oxide discs from SuperGrit are fantastic quality especially for the cost. They last the longest and cut quickly and cleanly with little build up. Diablo doesn't compare—Diablo is trash product, suckering homeowners. Thank God for true industrial suppliers like SuperGrit still in the game! Way to go designing this tool Mirka—you should be Proud—thank you!
