The fullest most flavorful iced coffee I've ever had
I'm a bit of a coffee snob, and my favorite preparation is iced coffee.Having tried this method of brew before, I knew it was outstanding and hoped the Hario dripper would help me reproduce it at home.It did not disappoint. The coffee is flavorful and the preparation opens up dimensions of flavor that completely burn off under the hot-brew-then-ice method.I want to share some problems/solutions that are easy to overlook:The first issue I faced was getting the drip rate right. I researched this and found that one drop every 1.5 seconds was recommended (2 drops every 3 seconds). I would shoot for one drop per second. Set it before you go to sleep and it will be ready by morning. In my opinion, the yield is not a concentrate, and I drink it straight. The second issue was that the water stopped dripping with about 1/6 of the water remaining in the tank. I realized that the dripper spigot is so small that the bubbles in the water I was using were clogging it. I switched the water source--used tap instead of filtered--and the problem resolved. Finally, I heard someone else mention this, and I would have completely skipped it had I not read the instructions thoroughly: you must moisten the grounds prior to turning the dripper on. Just a quick splash of water and a stir will do the trick, but if the grounds are not moistened, I've heard horror stories of water backing up and overflowing.

I like it and enjoy having it
From Lauren Hines: So far, so good. The dripper is a bit imprecise, but the Hario product works nicely and, while this may or may not be important to most, it looks wonderful on our counter. Though I do think the coffee it "produces" is clear in flavor and texture--there are less expensive alternatives. But this was a birthday gift and a nice indulgence for for this kitchen junkie who loves cool-drip (kyoto style).

Awesome cold drip!!!!
This product is great. Based on a visit to one of my favorite coffee shops, they do the drip at 1 drop/3 seconds and it’s a great result. Also comes with a 12g measuring scoop and recommendations on coffee weight to water ratios which worked great for me. The set up looks great as well. Of course, make sure you use high quality grounds.

Choose a different cold dripper
The design of this product is flawed to the point of it being essentially worthless. To boot, the manufacturer is completely unresponsive and apparently unwilling to stand behind their product. The particular problem that I encounter with every use is that the flow of water quickly diminishes from the recommended 2 drips/3 seconds to nothing in a very short amount of time. Re-adjust the drip rate and the problem occurs again. This is likely due to the fact that the valve lacks sensitivity--there is no change in the flow rate through 70% of the valve adjustment range, and then once the flow rate does start to change, micro-adjustments to the lever (i.e. so small that I can barely control it) lead to incommensurately large adjustments to the flow rate. If you attempt to compensate by setting the initial rate higher than suggested, the result will be: a) the same as described if just barely above the recommended rate; b) a flood if set high enough to finish the brew process without re-adjustment; or c) an inferior cup of coffee. There is a simple solution to this in properly engineering the valve, but apparently Hario couldn't figure that for their $260 product. If you're looking for a cold drip coffee system, I suggest you purchase another manufacturer's product.

High Quality.
LOVE THIS> I start this in the evening and in the morning I have enough coffee for my wife and daughter. It is very pretty and easy to use. You can control the strength by how much coffee you use. trick is to water as you fill your grounded beans.

Takes a lot of patience, and DO NOT LOSE THE METAL FILTER
I have made a few great jars of coffee with this and a few so-so jars. You need to get used to it and figure out the right balance. Unfortunately, this unit was rendered useless by my losing of the metal filter. Hario does not offer replacements for it, however, every single other part is available, so feel free to break/lose those. This really sucks.

I'm generally happy with this product overall
I'm generally happy with this product overall, although so far I've only used it a few times. Here are a few minor critiques:(1) As another reviewer pointed out, the flow rate does tend to diminish after some amount of time, at which point the valve needs to be readjusted in order to keep the water dripping. In one case I failed to readjust it before going to bed, and the next morning I woke up to find ~100 mL of water still sitting in the upper chamber, with no movement at all.(2) The rubber nub that attaches to the upper chamber for the water to drip through never seems to adhere to it very well. When I'm moving the valve to adjust the flow rate, it always feels as if the whole assembly is about to fall apart. To Hario's credit, it hasn't happened so far though.(3) I also own the Hario Mizudashi immersion cold brew maker, which is much cheaper. Supposedly drip cold brew makers do a better job of preserving the brighter, fruitier flavors, but so far I haven't noticed a difference. I like the coffee that this makes about as much as I like the Mizudashi coffee. Go figure.
