There is a learning curve for hive beetle eradication.
I'm still learning this device so am rating it 4 stars for now. It is just a little bit too thick to set under the inner cover. Bees will clog up the holes with propolis after a week or two so it must be watched. A major advantage over beetle blasters is that beetle blasters will drip oil if they get turned over. I'm using a mixture of borax and bacon grease for the first couple of installations. This doesn't seem to be hugely attractive to beetles so I'll probably change to a mixture of borax and molasses. Initial installation on my hives is not at all as effective as Swiffer sheets. Edited to add that they seem to work better adding a little sugar to the mixture. They also need to be cleaned every few weeks, since the bees plug holes with propolis.

SHB traps were easy to use. I placed in four hives and will evaluate effectiveness in one to two weeks

Use to control hive beetles
Put bait in snap shut. Checked later. Bees had closed up the opening. Beetles couldn't get to the poisoned bait.

Worked as expected
I used these to attack a small hive beetle problem in my bee hive. They are easy to use and had a positive impact on the hive quality.
