LG Electronics 39LB5800 39-Inch 1080p 60Hz Smart LED TV (2014 Model)

This TV is awesome. I priced out many Smart LED TVs at the 40 inch size. I also went to Best Buy to see the image quality and narrowed my selection down to the LG, VIZIO, and Panasonic. At one point I bought the Panasonic display model which was marked down. But when I got it home I couldn't get past the Home screen, which is a menu page for the smart apps. The display model was useless without the remote. Also, my experience with purchasing this TV then returning it, reminded me what I don't like about retail shopping in a store. Finding an associate to ring me up, who was disinterested to help. Then listening to him drone on about how I needed an extended warranty because most TVs will break down after two years...what? So between LG and VIZIO, I made the decision to go with LG. My reasoning came from the picture quality and design of the LGs. Nothing against VIZIO, but I believe LG has been making superior quality TVs for many years now, with only Samsung as its rival. I wanted a Smart LED TV with 1080p, 3 HDMI ports, USB, and decent speaker quality, which looked nice even when its not on. After making my decision, I had no regrets. The TV was easy to set-up and the picture quality was excellent even in standard mode. I made a few adjustments by selecting expert mode in the picture settings. This allows you to scale up or down back-lighting, contrast, color saturation, and tint quality on a spectrum of colors. Once I had everything tuned the way I liked, I hooked-up my Blue Ray player and popped in a few of my recent favorites (Prometheus, Man of Steel, etc.). Enter...mind blown. Wow! This image quality is unreal. Actually, sometimes I'll be in the middle of a movie and swear that the movie I'm watching was shot on HD video rather than film, because there is absolutely no grain or blur. I find myself staring at things like leaves blowing in a tree or the variety and vibrancy colors on a landscape. Yeah I feel pretty good about this purchase and would highly recommend this TV to anyone who seeks a superior movie watching experience. Also the smart apps work great and I got a month of amazon Prime free...which was pretty cool. Prime has a plethora of good shows as well. Check it out.

We had never owned an LG television before and decided to take the plunge based on the excellent reviews. We love this TV. We wanted a 42" set for our bedroom and this is unquestionably a high-quality, very reasonably priced solution. The picture is terrific, and the ease of adjustments and settings is superb. Value for the dollar is outstanding. We decided to wall-mount it, and that worked out well. If you do wall-mount, be aware that we did lose access to some of the external connectivity -- the mount we chose blocked some of the access points to the tv's external connections--which frankly we would never use. This did not matter to us, as all we wanted to do was hook up to cable and use the built-in wifi capability to access Netflix and Amazon Prime. (The cable connector is placed appropriately and does not interfere with the wall mount.) We love the slim frame. It makes the picture look even bigger than it is. The wifi connectivity worked perfectly and easily. We are totally satisfied and would definitely recommend this tv. Truly a gorgeous picture, good sound, all around outstanding value. Based on this tv, we are now considering an even larger LG for our living room. Very highly recommended.

I did a lot of research for TVs. I found this LG to be a very good price, with good features and good reviews. Even now, I have not seen one this size with these features and good reviews anywhere else. That includes Costco, etc. The size is really good. (My old one was much bigger, but I couldn't afford that size again and this one is fine.) The picture is really sharp and clear. It's pretty easy to work with too. If I had to pick a complaint, it would be that the sound would be better in the front of the TV rather than the rear. I did see that mentiioned in other reviews. I have great hearing and it's not a problem since I keep the TV quiet anyway. The only thing I would say is that it doesn't get loud enough to hear it from the kitchen when I'm listening while cooking. That's not much of a complaint though and I would assume that most people would not have a problem at all in the same room with it, as the volume does get quite loud. I definitley recommend this one.

Good picture. Easy to set up, however the scroll button on the remote is difficult to use. The speakers are marginal, they face downward so the sound is not projected toward the viewer. The legs are dumb. They are very far apart and attach at an angle. I had to put blocks under them to elevate the TV and it took two of us to accomplish that because of the awkward angle. The input slots are in the center of the rear of the TV, not very accessible, particularly if you wall mount the TV. Apparently the TV was designed by a "Designer" and not a person who actually uses TVs and knows what the most convenient and functional configuration should be.

Perfect size for the kitchen, very happy with the smart functions, wifi works great. The lg account thing is a bit annoying.

Bough it few years ago, work as new, recomend it.

Great bedroom TV; have not tried smart utilities yet.

Really happy about the picture quality of this tv, set up was easy. Not a big deal but would be nice if the buttons lit up. Typing in email addresses and password for the initial set up was a pain in the butt and a slow process, but tolerable.
