Excellent low-cost photometer
Great for measuring relative brightness of light sources. Swiveling head allows pointing at light source and still being able to read LCD screen. Has a backlight for low-light use. Easy to use controls although the instructions and not wonderful, and contain some errors. Cannot speak for accuracy as that would require a calibrated reference source, which I do not have, but the reading ARE consistent.

It works
What is there to say? It works, it's fairly inexpensive and it has a little bit more features than the average one in the price range. It has helped me correctly place my lights, I was worried I was giving my plants too much light and this helped me figure out correct placement on them. I am no seeing better growth since I was able to increase the LUX with out going too high.

seems flexible to the need
there are various settings about what units to use for measuring light.the sensor head can rotate, which is an advantage if you want to read the LCDwhile also pointing the unit at the light sourceI am not in the position to verify accuracy of the readings, so cannot comment about that

Eliminates guess work
Excellent switch actuation, and good LCD resolution. Overall good quality. The swivel light receiver is nice but not many people probably use this feature. They could lower the cost a couple sheckles if they designed out the swivel light cup.Meter has good response but I'm not sure of the accuracy without having it calibrated. I think it is accurate enough for my purposes. I do know it has taken the guess work out of setting a light source to "object" distance.

Returned
Wasn't accurate at all and it was difficult to use. I returned it for a refund.

Could Be Improved
I ordered this to try with my photography. I wanted to see if this would help in setting the correct ISO and power settings. While you can certainly determine the lumens within the area, it doesn’t have a setting that allows for determining how to set for your flash. I’ve used it to guess on flash settings while in abandoned locations, but it takes some thought. For determining straight up light lumens within an area, this works well.

Perfect for your production bag
Measures lux/footcandls/ And ambient temperature. Works very well with quick response times. Comes with a soft case that is fine. I calibrated to a Minolta light meter and readings are dead on. Would definitely recommend and can't be beat at this price point

Interesting behavor
Just purchased the meter.Turned the meter on with sensor covered, the reading is 0.00lux. Tried to operate at low light, then in direct sunlight. All seems OK.However, it was noticed after exposed to sunlight, then come back to low light, the meter will have a approximate 350lux bias. When the sensor is covered again, the meter still reads 379lux.I experimented a bit more. When increasing the light from very dim to a meter reading of approx 400lux, the reading suddenly jumps up by about 350. Then reduce the light to dark, and cover the sensor, the meter still shows 379.4 lux. Need to cycle it OFF/ON or press REL with the cap on to reset the zero.It seems that the photo detector creates some bias after when light exceeds 400lux. I did not try to wait to see if the bias fades away with time. The instruction sheet mentioned 9V battery, while the unit uses 2x1.5V AAA battery. Looks like a cut and paste job. Conclusion: Plenty of features, but Auto Zero does not work quite right. Returned.
