Don’t add heat!
I followed the instructions exactly as it showed in the video. But I don’t recommend adding heat! I wish I had read the other reviews that also say that it can further the crack. No sun here so I added just a very light amount of heat in the final step, but it spread the crack. Fortunately I did have enough of the drops to repeat the steps and was able to help fix that. It does look better but it’s still visible. I don’t know if it’s enough to keep it from spreading again. I may have to find another kit to see if I can fill it completely. I guess the result will just vary. Although it didn’t give me the best results, I gave it a good score for easy steps, enough drops to repeat the process and at least the crack appears to be filled. Worth a try. I suppose all these kits and drops are similar. * not real easy to focus on such a tiny spot with my phone but tried to. Photo 6 is after I repeated all the steps again.

Inexpensive and Does A Good Job!
I was skeptical about any quick repair for a star chip. I had just had a similar repair done in Butte, Montana by an independent company who did a great job for $79. Just after that, my windshield was hit again by a large pebble. I was traveling on a tight schedule so I waited until I got back to Maryland but couldn’t find a company that could do a quick and inexpensive repair. So I bought this RainX kit.It really works. Follow the instructions but here are two things that will make it easier:First, screw in the reservoir before you line the base over the center of your repair. Screw it in just far enough so that you can see it hitting the center of the damage and then depress the four suckers on the four legs of the base.Second, if at all possible have someone on the inside of the vehicle guide you through the placement process. It’s a royal pain in the @$$ to keep checking, moving, checking, moving and so on until it’s lined up.Then stay with the instructions. Do the repairs in the shade and let it cure in the sunlight. Use more than you think you need because it comes off very easily with the razor blade supplied. This kit will do several repairs so keep everything. My repair is as good as the one done in a shop.

If crack/divot is on dotted part of windshield, then can't position well.
I watched a youtube video on using this. It didn't look too hard. But, my results were awful. The first problem was that I couldn't check the fit because my windshield has black dots around the edges, which is where the damage was.The second problem was that the divot and crack look as bad as they were before I started. It worked great on that guys video, but I am a klutz of a handy-man.

Impressive Results – Saved Me a Costly Repair!
I was skeptical at first, but this Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit really impressed me! I had both a small star crack and a chip on my windshield, and while it didn’t make the star completely disappear, it significantly reduced its visibility and, most importantly, helped prevent further spreading. The chip, on the other hand, is now almost invisible! The instructions were clear, and the process was quick and easy—took me about 30 minutes from start to finish. Best of all, the kit provides multiple uses, making it a great value compared to an expensive professional repair. If you have minor windshield damage, this is definitely worth a try before heading to a repair shop!

Instructions lack but the product is a proven winner
The only downside to this product is the overly-complicated instruction manual. Don't be intimidated, this thing works and has repaired chips and cracks on my and my family and friends windshields going on 10 years. No exaggeration, I have fixed everything from cracks a few inches long to bullseye looking chips the size of a quarter. Almost every single time the repair is nearly indistinguishable. I once waited too long and was unable to repair a crack that had grown about a foot long. That was on me. Had I not waited and tackled it when it first showed up a few inches long, I'm certain it would have been another success story.I gladly buy a new pack every few repairs because I want them to continue making this product. Once you commit and dig in and do it the first time, it's a piece of cake every time thereafter. Just repaired two more chips about a half inch wide each and my wife can't tell where it was to begin with. Sometimes you have to repeat the process but it is way cheaper than replacing a windshield and from beginning to end takes about 10 minutes on something simple.
