Review: Bolt lock for my apartment - Good solid lock and mechanism, very pleased with the unit. I had to replace a door lock and this one came in handy and it worked perfectly. Review: Installs fine - Fyi you don't need ti do a giant cut-out in the front of the door, just drill where the bolts go through, and a semi-circle over the top of the barrel.

Good lock but could be better
I bought 2 of these interior-only deadbolts for my daughters rental house, just so she would feel (and me too)a little more secure at night, since neither exterior door had any sort of proper deadbolt. Installation was fairly easy with the exception of the plastic sleeve,or half-sleeve really, that just lays on the lock cylinder. At first I didn't think I would need the "sleeves",as I have lots of experience in carpentry and have installed hundreds of door knobs and deadbolts. After inspecting the locks,I found out that the black plastic sleeves are actually the pieces that hold the female threaded portion that the actual screws thread into to bolt the thing to the door. Why the manufacturer chose to have these "sleeves" as a part of the mounting system WITHOUT them being a permanent part of the cylinder is beyond me--they just loosely fit on the cylinder and if you accidently drop one like I did,and it happens to fall down through the floor vent or some other void, the whole lock is useless. I used some superglue to attach the sleeve to the lock cylinder before trying to install the second lock, and then glued the first one after I fished the sleeve out of the floor vent.. One other thing is that these are adjustable in length. They will adjust from 2 1/2" to 2 3/4" by twisting/unlocking the cylinder, pulling it out and then relocking it. One gave me trouble by not wanting to lock in the 2 1/2" position until I modified it. Lastly, the 2 screws that hold the locks in place are M6 metric machine screws and they were too short, even though I installed the locks just as the instructions said to. I had to make a run to the hardware store for some proper length screws in order to install them. Once I got them installed, they seem to work well and have been for about a month now. Of course you get what you pay for. Not bad locks if you have some basic carpentry skills, but I wouldn't recommend them for a novice to try and install.

Flat out defective
This lock was not installed and was sent back. The screws for installation we’re far too short and the inner connections didn’t fit either. Unfortunately the lock was simply a completely unworkable option. I ordered another brand lock for a bit more money and installation was easy.
