FUN!!!
i've only used one of the nibs of the 10 nib set but i'm having so much fun drawing with it. they hold ink for a pretty long time. who needs fountain pens?? and the lines they make look so good. you can make a bold thick line or a fine tiny line with the same nib. i love em! i'm also using speedball "super black" ink

Good for the experienced hand, not so good for the beginner.
I have been doing calligraphy for a long time. Speedball C nibs are my current favorite. They get better with age. If you are a beginner - these will fight you until you learn how to show them respect and properly use them. Some complain that they grab the paper. some say the ink doesn't flow right. They are right. It's not working for them. Give me the same pen and I will have it working perfectly. Sometimes you have to carefully bend the metal a tiny bit. sometimes you have to slightly re-shape the brass ink channel. Beginners often use the wrong paper. This causes the edges to catch, or the paper to jam the ink channels. Poor paper can also cause the ink to run. Different inks act differently in the pen and on the paper. Try different inks and try different papers. Some papers are designed for calligraphy. It all comes down to experience. These nibs can glide like a good ice skater along the page and create beautiful works in the hands of someone with experience. I haven't yet tried the Brause Bandzug nibs yet. They are much more expensive and harder to get, but I'm sure they will probably be better. But when my Speedball pens are set up and broken in - they perform smoothly and perfectly, so I suspect they will be about the same. I suggest that beginners start with some well made Japanese or European felt or synthetic tipped calligraphy marker pens (Zig, Sakura, Yasutomo, Marvy etc.). Then graduate to Trustela Calligraphy Nibs, 18 Calligraphy Pen Nibs set or Mont Marte 9 Nib Calligraphy Set (the nibs on these pens are easier to use than the Speedball nibs). Get a good nib holder. I like wood ones. I like the Brause Calligraphy nib holders, they have a nice feel and a good width. Different inks work differently in the pen and on the paper. I like Pelikan 4001 series inks. Get a couple of 30 ml jars. I like their Royal Blue, Violet and Brown. I found this amazing looking ink - Diamine - Shimmering Fountain Pen Ink, Purple Pazzazz. I can't wait to try it out. Black is always good for practicing. ... and don't forget to clean your nibs well!! After rinsing under running water, gently slide a thin sheet of good paper under the brass ink channel on top and the one underneath the nib. don't use a paper that will disintegrate and get stuck under the channels. Ink solvent is good too. Watch some YouTube videos, and practice every few days. You'll get better and better. Once you've got them set up correctly, they will bring you great joy. Your friends and family will like getting your hand-made holiday cards, invitations and letters. Then they will ask you to do some for them. Maybe you can make some money at it. I find calligraphy to be relaxing and meditative. It is art. I love it! I hope you do too.

Smooth and long lasting
This comes with 6 nibs and 2 holders. It goes forever with just 1 dip. It is really smooth to use. I never used one before but wanted to try an ink and watercolor painting, it was nowhere near as hard as I thought it would be. I need more practice as I am not very experienced, but I was very impressed

Add Some Pizzazz to Thank You Cards
This lettering pen was on my mother’s Amazon wish list. It made for a perfect stocking stuffer. She enjoys using it when she sends out thank you cards, just to add a little pizzazz. My mother is always appreciative to have an item that is specifically designed for left handers. The ink flows nicely, good selection of nibs and the pen shaft is contoured appropriately. Mom is super happy and that makes me happy.

It might be safer to get the nibs separate from holders.
Got the cartooning set. The blister sealed package arrived beat up in a brown envelope. Nibs function alright. The textbook says to give then an initial wipe down in gum Arabic; that helps get the Hunt 100 to start. Comic illustrators of traditional persuasion might prefer a 102 instead. The standard size nib holder says Chinese. This impedes my satisfaction a little. It might be safer to purchase nibs separate from holders. It's good to have this historic tool.

Good nibs. Good grip.
Good news: These are calligraphy pens. Bad news: It takes a lot of practice to write calligraphy. The nibs are holding up well under my clumsy pensmanship and I like the grip well enough. If you're looking to practice pretty pensmanship, this is a good tool

Not a great set
I have a love hate relationship with Speedball products because of their inconsistent quality. This comes with two fine tips, and one will not flow ink smoothly. It'll leave a blob, but not a fine line. I've done everything possible to make it work better; cleaning it with tip cleaner, then letting it soak in distilled water over night. No change. Here is a run down on this package: The large quill tip slot cannot hold tip #99 in place. Tips: #103 - Works okay (40%) but the ink will glob if I don't clean it every few minutes. Partly because the Speedball ink I received is goo (see my scathing review on SB Ink). For thinner ink, it works fine. Be careful. Maybe this nib is just defective. I can't get it to work with any ink. #104 - Satisfactory in most respects. It takes patience to get the ink to flow. I go slow anyway, but this tip tries my patience. It works fine 60% of the time. #100- The best tip, and perhaps the only real working tip in this set. At least in the one I received. This one is consistent and ink flows smooth and even. As with all dip pens ink can blob at the most unexpected time. #99 - If I could trust the quill to keep it in place it works fine. But it won't seat well in the quill included in the package. I've only used it a couple of times so far. I'm looking for a higher quality quill that will hold it tighter. #512 - Ink doesn't flow smoothly leaves puddles where I don't want them. #513 - Works okay. I trust this tip over the 512. I'm not impressed with this set and I wish all the tips would flow smoothly, but with Speedball, it's a dicey quality issue from set to set. None of them are that great to begin with, but they are affordable, and that's why I'm using SB.

It's Speedball. What could go wrong. Based on price, I purchased these to replace my existing C series nibs that are over 30 years old.

Pra tinta nanquim escorrer pelo bico de pena é preciso remover um óleo que ja vem na pena pra não enferrujar.

Me encantaron!!!! Realmente vale la pena si eres zurdo porque batallas mucho con las normales, y estás te quitan de mucho problema. Muy buena calidad de plumillas, pero tomar en cuenta que son delicadas.
