Works Great
As I am a big fan of the FG knot I bought this to help me tie braided line to monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders on the boat. I have used it for two seasons, fishing saltwater halibut, ling cod, and all types of rock fish out of Neah Bay Washington. Even in rough conditions it makes tying the FG knot immensely easier on the boat or in the garage. It has stood up well to saltwater and is durable enough to sit in the gunnels of a boat with 5lb or less of weights knocking up against it. I recommend this knot tool.

Because you don't have enough fingers.
When tying fishing knots, there is always the need to hold some loops together with one "pinch" and then to wrap or wind the tag end around or through the loop. A uni knot is a good example. This gadget gives you 3 extra "pinchers" so you can use all of your finger just to do the wrapping or winding.

Learning curve to using this. YouTube is your friend here.
There are videos on Youtube that will help you learn how to use this. Instructions included are in Japanese only, so of no use unless you happen to read Japanese. I, myself, do not. The videos are also in Japanese, but visual learning is universal, so they are still helpful. There is a learning curve with this. I suggest grabbing some line and watching the videos while you practice tying an FG knot with the device. It gets easier, the more you do it. You might want to write up an index card with instructions in your own words and slip it in your tacklebox, just in case.

Perfect for tying the FG knot in very thin fishing line!
This thing works great!Ok, here’s the basics. I’m 63 and fishing is my most cherished hobby. I wanted to up my game a lot, so I started using braided line with monofilament backing and fluorocarbon leaders. All of this involved tying the FG knot, which I never heard of until very recently. Well, there are really good videos out there on how to tie it using 3 fingers, and they appear to work great. But, NOT WITH VERY LIGHT FISHING LINE! All these videos involved 50lb or even 100lb line and I simply couldn’t make it work with what I’m using. My line is too thin and flimsy. So I opened the package of this Knot Assist 2 and gave it a try. The first knot went pretty well (had to watch a video or two), but the 2nd one went much faster and even faster. Hey, look folks, I’m using 8x 10lb braided line with 8lb fluorocarbon and 12lb monofilament, and this device made the FG knot very easy to tie. I will have no issues using it along a riverbank or lake edge this spring. I’m very glad I bought it!

FG Knot is now an everyday piece of my fishing
This tool makes the venerable FG knot a breeze. I've watched many videos of using propping your rod against something to create tension and needing 3 hands to properly tie the FG knot, while this little tool makes it a single person job. Takes a little practice to get things tidy and lay perfectly but once you do, you'll be utilizing the FG knot on everything -- at least I am. Went from straight flouro to braid to leader on all setups outside of topwater.

close but no quite
The spring is not strong enough so the lines do not stay taught.
