Complete junk
DO NOT BUY THIS TRAP!This trap is weak, flimsy and very poorly made. I have caught two animals since I purchased this trap, a medium sized raccoon, and an adult ground hog. Both animals were in the trap for a very brief period prior to relocation. No relocation for the raccoon, it had no trouble getting out of the trap. They both destroyed the trap. Broke the spot welds on the wire mesh, ripped the handle off, bent the bait pan and the tripping mechanism. The cheap silver paint on it came off in less than a week, and it had started to rust in several places. I should have bought a smaller, more reliable, Havahart trap. I say that because both animals that I caught, could have been caught in a 50% smaller trap, but they still managed to destroy the trap. If I had caught a larger animal in this junk trap, I am absolutely certain it would have escaped just by ripping the trap apart. Don’t waste your time on this trap. Garbage.I contacted the manufacture three times. They never got back to me.I thank Amazon customer relations for righting this wrong, because the only response I got from the manufacturer was notification of $28 restocking fee! Which Amazon took care of. Five stars for Amazon!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Update: Bought a Havahart trap at Home Depot for almost half the price of the trap featured in this review. I’ve caught three coons and 2 groundhogs in it…no problems, no escapes, no damage to Trap.Amazon should offer a larger size Havahart trap online.👍🏻

Not the size stated
Nice trap and well constructed. Since it has a paint finish rather than galvanized I don't think it can be left out in the weather for any prolonged time. The measurement states that it is 18 inches, but it is actually 15 inches long.

Arrived damaged
It arrived bent at the trap door part. After manipulating one of the hook latches a bit to set the trap, I can get it to work sometimes. But only one latch will work. I was able to trap an animal that’s been killing my livestock. But sometimes it triggers without an animal in it due to the wires being bent.

Got this for chipmunks
Got this for our problem with chipmunks did not want kill them just let them live in a better place. No luck, they would go in and get the food and leave. I even put the food in little nylon bags and tied them inside the cage. Still n luck in and out and food gone ate through the bag. I did catch a baby rabbit. Had to let that go, As for the chipmunks they are still running in my yard. Guess I just spent some money to let the run the yard

Ineffective and useless. Multiple design problems.
This trap is effectively useless. It does not perform as advertised and is built so cheaply it cannot hold an animal determined to get out.1- I have security cameras in my backyard to track the movements of raccoons and have seen multiple animals go in and out without springing the trap. Even when setting the latch as close to the edge as possible, animals walk right in, get the bait, and leave with impunity. I had to jerry rig my own solution (a monofilament loop attached to the bait) to get the door to close. But that wasn't good enough...2- the overall design is cheap and weak. A raccoon literally pushed its way out through the door in under 5 minutes. The metal bars that are supposed to hold the door closed are made of such cheap metal I can bend them with two fingers. I found this out by bending them back into shape after the medium-sized raccoon pushed the door open, bending the metal rods to begin with.
