Mil-TecBundeswehr mountain backpack New model 25 liters

Can't really go wrong with this.
This is a fantastic little backpack which I use for gardening. The two side pockets are ideal for one litre Sigg bottles. The shoulder straps are fine and there is a waist strap, which I occasionally use. The main compartment consists of a draw string and toggle and a flap which straps down, like the side compartments. The material is tough and appears to be waterproof, especially the base. And finally, there is a sturdy carry handle which is ideal for moving the backpack around when you don't need to put it on your shoulders.

A good piece of kit
=== Update March 2017 ===Unbelievably, this bag is still going strong. It is abused every day, I have recently lugged it round Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia and now use it every day in India as my laptop bag. It's beginning to show its age now but then again so am I. I think it might even outlast me. Not good for sales in this throw away culture of ours but must be a good buy.=== end March 2017 Update ===Feb 2014========Just to add mine is still going strong. I have had it on 3 trips to Asia, crammed full of stuff, including my ukulele! Also, as I run to and from work, I have have run literally hundreds of miles with it on my back.It is beginning to show a few signs of wear and I might need to do a little stitching round the right strap where it has worn because of the running.I think for the price this has been a great buy!====== end Feb 14 update =========I find it hard to think I am reviewing the same bag as Moon the Loon.I have had mine since the beginning of 2012 and found it very sturdy and well made, none of the seams are coming away, and I have given it a bit of abuse using as my 'second' bag when travelling in Sri Lanka. It's not my regular running back pack, but I have used it to transport my clothes whilst running home from work on occasions and it's fine. It has a waist belt which makes it more stable when running.I can easily get my both my hands into the side pockets, admittedly, I am not built like the Incredible Hulk, but at the same time I am not a midget. I have used the side pockets for things like water bottles - perfect.Personally, I like the fact that the main bag doesn't come with loads of pockets and compartments. I have had this sort of bag in the past and can never remember where I have put stuff. All in all, a simple strong bag in my experience, and at the price you can pick one up on Amazon, it makes it a much better buy than the designer backpacks you can buy at 3 or 4 times the price.

Top draw👌
despite lots of loose thred from manufacture, over all quality is top draw👌 Old school design executed very well, weather it be hiking or a day to day bag, its a good all rounder... also i was bery impressed with how smooth the clip lock buckles worked👍

Love it. Holds tons of stuff and is hard wearing. Side pockets hold flask and juice bottles no bother. Great piece bag for the work.

Does the job
This is a good bit of kit. Enough space for a weekend and the bag itself is nice and light. Has a good look to it as well. This bag is not waterproof so pack everything in dry-bags if you expect rain! In time, bits will start tearing. I had mine almost a year before that happened though so for the price I'd say it's reasonable.

Excellent bit of kit
Use this regularly to carry kit. Bought army surplus mat to pop in the inner compartment which provides a bit of cushioning and rigidity to the rucksack. Excellent bit of kit.

Plus it looks cool.
I do a lot of wild camping for days at a time. This is the pack I use all the time. Handy loops at the top for draping my tent to. Plus it looks cool.

FAILURE
I can not give an opinion on this item as it failed to get delivered to me, which was a great disappointment, as it was intended as a birthday present to my grandson

This is a copy of the 1990s Bundswehr Mountain Rucksack... mostly
Summary:A copy of the 1990s Bundswehr Mountain Rucksack, although the canvas fabric and straps are more robust on the original military pack and this copy doesn't have PVC coating throughout the interior of the pack. What I like:The coated bottom lets you put the ruck down on damp ground without getting the contents wet. It's easy to tote a camp axe or hatchet, by slipping the haft in the sleeve formed by one of the side pockets and the main pack. Because there's no divider, it's easy to cram a bunch of stuff in it... compact sleeping bag, hammock/tarp, twig stove, some dehydrated meals, change of socks and undies, spare t-shirt, etc. You can pick up one of the surplus German folding camp pads and put it into the purpose-built pocket and that will do a great deal to stiffen up the pack so it doesn't sag... and you have a camp pad for your tent or hammock. A great day pack for a hunter, or lightweight overnight/weekend bushcraft camping pack, or for emergencies supplies that you can leave in your vehicle. The key plus is that these are inexpensive compared to most canvas packs, and more rugged than most comparably-priced rucks and daypacks. If you want rustic, if you want something that you can modify by sewing on patches or loops, or want to wax for that old-school patina as well as for practicality, this is hard to beat. What I don't like: First, the military ruck was coated on the inside of the main bag, increasing its water resistance. This is unlined canvas, and if it gets wet what's inside the ruck will get wet. Second, the buckles. They have a center prong, which the military ruck didn't have... which doesn't allow you to roll up the bottom straps quickly to adjust it. You can remove the prong, however. Other than that, it's a very close copy, You can sometimes find used surplus canvas or poly rucks for around $30 on international military surplus sites in Europe... Google 'BW Mountain Pack' for some places to look. Note that this ruck will sag (like any canvas ruck without a frame) with any real load.Summary:For a day pack or a lightweight overnight or weekend trip, this would be fine. You wouldn't want to haul more than 20 lbs in it, or go for more than two nights away from civilization and unsupplied because you can't bring enough supplies. And, either get a waterproof ruck cover or wax it if you plan to use it for any time in the rain. It also benefits from a stiffener inside to help it maintain its shape... either the intended German folding sleeping pad, or a purpose-cut pad that can double as a camp seat or kneeling pad.

A reasonable simulation
It's not the original German miitary backpack but a reasonable commercial simulation. If it lasts as long as the original (15 years), I'll be well pleased.

Insgesamt ein guter Rucksack
Passt ordentlich was rein und macht qualitativ auch einen guten Eindruck. Nur der Tragekomfort ist nicht der beste
