Excellent clear coat.
This is by far the best clear coat I've used. It is the only rattle-can coating I've found that gives results similar to a full compressor/spray gun/booth setup. I use it professionally on small products and touch-up (the larger parts and long runs get sent out, as we don't have a spray booth in the shop). This gives a very clear, high glass coating with high build. It is even somewhat forgiving on surface imperfections, and gives a good indication of how a given level of prep will coat with the full spray setup. I have not found the round spray pattern to be a problem. Even though others complain about it, I'm not sure I agree that a fan spray pattern would be nicer, as this nozzle gives me full symmetric coverage. Yes, you do have to keep it moving, but that is true of any spray painting -- always start the spray off the part, move across, and release the trigger momentarily for the turn-around. You really have to distinctly stop in one spot fairly long to get the bubbles, and you'll probably also get runs with that long a hold. The only actual negative I can think of is that it is really smelly, so use it outdoors or with VERY good ventilation. Even if you spray it outside and bring the parts in, it will outgas for some time and probably smell up your shop for a day or two. Great stuff -- I've relied on this clear coat since I found it and it is great to be able to get it at Amazon now for a bit better price than I used to get it.

Good product- but not for my headlights
UPOL seems to be better than the common clear available at hardware store, but it isn't anywhere near as good as a 2k like many seem to state. It stays somewhat soft and scratch-able. I used this as a way to restore several composite headlights and my results were not as desired. First, I cleared the headlights of a 90's full size Ford Bronco. They initially turned out visually great, but several days later, even though it was warm outside, I noticed a new scratch on one of the lights. No biggie on this, but... I then tried to do the same thing on some 2001 Taurus headlights. DID NOT WORK. Not sure why, but even though the composite lens had been sanded and degreased very well, it spider cracked the entire lens on both lights. Initially it looked good, but within 4 hours of applying clear the cracks appeared. I was so disappointed that I re-sanded the lights after letting it cure for several days, degreased again and re-sprayed the clear a second time. End up with exactly the same results. Must have something to do with compatibility of materials or the larger surface area of the Taurus lens. I also noticed that when I degreased, I used 90% Isopropyl alcohol, and that was starting to "melt" or gum up the 48 hour old clear. Perhaps 70% would have been better, but even 90% is a pretty mild degreaser. A single can of this clear did the two Bronco lights and the much larger Taurus headlights - twice- and the can is still has about a third full of product in it. Enough to probably do another set of smaller lights. If I ever feel compelled to waste my time sanding and spraying headlights (it is a lot of work to do this correctly) again, I will use a two part clear instead. Should be more scratch resistant and hopefully won't spider web on a larger lens. Also, I found it strange that even the manufacturer rep couldn't tell me if this was a lacquer, a moisture cured urethane or something else. I also noticed that the British, where this product seems to originate from, call all forms of clear coats, even 2k products, "LACQUER", which confuses the situation even more.

Bought this as clearcoat for refurbished bike. Mist, medium and then wet coat all went on well, with only a small area that reacted to the U-Pol. It was an area with sticker residue that I forgot to clean off. Ended up having to sand back to base coat and reapply the clear. This is a vg, hard wearing 1k clear coat, but you have to prepare properly, let any base coat cure/dry properly before applying the U-Pol. Would recommend.
