Consistent quality product-- great for camping, emergency rations/storm supplies, quick meals, and the "cooking impaired"
Keystone Meats always have a consistent quality product. If you need a canned meat product, this is the company to buy from. 5 stars reflect a comparison to other canned meat products. Actually is fairly tasty compared to fresh cooked meat-- obviously not gourmet, but it's a good product. I have tried the cubed beef, ground beef, pork, turkey, & chicken-- all of them are quite good. Keystone doesn't add a lot of preservatives or any of the other unwholesome additives most canned meat (actually canned anything) contains-- they keep it simple and it makes for a tasty product. I will say that the meat does have a noted salt flavor-- not overt, but it's there. If you require a salt-free product, this is not for you-- but then again, neither are 98% of any canned/prepared food items... I will also note that the beef & pork Keystone items do have the ubiquitous glob of fat in them-- this is easily scooped out/away with a spoon (put can in the refrigerator for a few minutes before opening for even easier separation). Or if you have a cast-iron heart, then leave it in for flavor or fry some potatoes in it :-) These products are great for camping, emergency rations/storm supplies, quick meals, and the "cooking impaired"---- you can't get much quicker & easier than this. Mixes well Mrs Dash salt-free seasonings (especially Taco), Rotel tomatoes, Mac & Cheeses, stroganoff noodles, etc. Don't tell the other Texans, but I actually made chili with it once [Hey, it was an emergency... and we needed some chili STAT :-) ] It worked, I had no complaints -- the family was understanding that we were in a situation where real slow cooked home-style Angus/Venison chili was not an option... Used Carol Shelby's chili mix, Guinness Stout, canned tomatoes-Rotel , & a can of three-bean mix (pinto, black, kidney) [yeah, I know... 'real' chili doesn't have beans-- Like I said, it was an emergency. Overall, I recommend this and other Keystone meat products.

Good enough, expensive
For a canned AND cooked product this is good enough. Contents look like 3 different things, which is neither food nor bad: the cooked hamburger meat, the fat globbed together, and liquid. I made a pasta with meat sauce using the contents. Spooned fat globs (most) out and used for oil in pan, it melted quickly. Then added onions, later beef, and last the water and cooked it out. Water is the universal SOLVENT and beef water is SOUP, meaning it dissolved the flavor from the beef. If you don't evaporate the water and instws toss it out, out goes the flavor it holds too. Meat was a little mushy so needed to be scarred/browned a bit before wine and then tomato sauce went in. Spices herbs etc. Sauce came out FINE. 85% of fresh beef. I like to prep simple. Vacuum sealed Mediterranean pasta, San marzanos canned, and meats that can be used for different sauces. When the world goes sideways (hurricane country) I can add water, oil, spices, and eat pasta until it resolves or ends. Super cheap, lasts years, can rotate through it, and nobody gets sick of different pasta dishes with or without meat.

Surprisingly good.
I bought this by accident, thinking it was the Keystone Beef. It sat in the pantry for several months because I was afraid it would be dogfood-like. A few nights ago, we were *starving*. I had not planned, thawed, or prepared anything; there were no eggs and no leftovers in the fridge, and we didn't want a bowl of cereal or can of soup (again). I opened this can of ground beef, expecting the worst. I was wrong! Because the pantry is cool, all the white fat had solidified and stuck to the top and side of the can. I drained the juice into a pet bowl. I dumped the blob of meat into a people bowl and broke it apart with a wooden spoon. It really was finely ground beef. No visible fat. It tasted like ground beef, just more finely ground than from the grocer. I made a quick stir fry for a warm, satisfying meal. I scraped the solid fat from the can into the garbage before recycling the can. So, chill the can so the fat solidifies, and go about making whatever you'd normally make with cooked ground beef. It really was ok for people food and my dogs did not get ground beef that night (the cats liked the juice, but that too may also be okay for people). I think it'll make a good chili. I bought 2 more cans on purpose yesterday :)

It is basically pulled roast beef in a can. For the size of the can and the price of it it’s very overpriced. Bit for convenience and taste of pretty decent for canned it being canned beef. It it was cheaper in price I would give it a five star but for convenience and taste and texture very nice a five star for that.
