You Suck at Cooking: The Absurdly Practical Guide to Sucking Slightly Less at Making Food: A Cookbook Review: Perfect Birthday Gift - My sister sucks at cooking, and I mean this whole heartedly. She baked a metal spoon into brownies once. She also tried to cook chicken in a cup of salt for her husband as well. She's even tried to bake a pie by taking it out of its pie tin and it flattened into the baking pan. So naturally, you'd try to get cook books that can help someone learn how to cook. This book was the perfect option. I originally seen it in FYE for double the price and decided desertcart was better and after inspecting the book further when it arrived, I love it. The recipes are amazing and easy to understand and the graphs/charts throughout give a good laugh. I think she just might be able to finally learn how to cook, or she might not. After all, results do vary. Review: Its a must have. Its helpful, and fun to read! - Love this book as well as the youtube channel!! When my kids and I find out about the book we pre ordered right away!! Now that is here my kids keep fighting over it. I can hear them laugh from the other room. I dont own cooking books but this one i had to have! Its well written, its funny, its helpful and its easy to follow recipes. And i might get a second one to stop the fighting between my kids and a few more to give to people i want to tell them they really suck at cooking but with these book it might come out less harsh than saying it. 🤣

Wangjangle this
Never before have I just wanted to read a cookbook cover to cover until now.....and I did. I think there is some brilliance to the absurdity found within these pages. And by absurdity, I mean an amazing offbeat sense of humor that I link up with wholeheartedly. I think for a lot of people that have never cooked before there is no better way to start cooking and preparing simple, quick recipes that are actually nutritious. Leave the processed chemicals and frozen lab experiments at the grocery store and pick up this book. I love to cook and think I'm decent at it. Am I learning how to make masterpieces here....no. but there are simple instructional takeaways I have benefitted from. This is a great book for quick weeknight meal ideas that can be done by everybody so grab (or find) your favorite wangjangler and get cooking.

Fantastic. 10/5 Stars.
This book is perfect. So funny and extremely accessible. It’s a great investment, even if you don’t suck at cooking. Which you probably do. But it’s fine. Buy the book and just read it.

This Is the Stuff that Food Comedy Is Made of!
How do I review a masterpiece by an unknown author who has a decidedly unique style and an ability to shock and awe with every breath? Is this chef a man or woman, or both, or none of the above? Every breath is potentially lost in myriad gales of laughter, and I'm not sure I'm going to survive our first encounter. I was in a bad mood this morning, very bad. Bad, bad badbad. So I did what my husband hates most and opened my Kindle to "Books" to see what's recommended for sale to me when I'm in a bad mood. Tucked in there, quite innocently and innocuously was this You Suck at Cooking, with no stated author. I HATE anonymity where someone refuses to take responsibility for the careful or careless mischief he is going to make. Hate it, but still curious. So I sampled. Hmmm. Well, guess what Chef Anon is hilarious in the nicest, most responsible way possible. He is giving fandango information, with fresh new concepts and words to entangle and engage us in the sheer FUN of cookery. Simple recipes from simply different ideas (who knew green eggs from pesto not spinach, are way better and I don't have to grit my teeth offering it to my grandchild with hopeful crossed fingers). And, I've got a wangdangler or two and have never called them spatulas because I hate spitting into my skillet when I ask Frank for one. And I don't care who Chef is, he is welcome in our home/life/will because he somehow noisily sneaked into our kitchen and our hearts by reminding us that cookingwithlaughter just tastes better. That love is the most essential seasoning is the most essential part of any recipe and it takes the toil out of the task (and the foil out of the flask; I don't know why, but I needed to say that! He/she made me say it, then giggle). It is so nice, so refreshing for cooking to be fun again, that I think I'll make some peanut butter cookies and be fifteen again. I think I'll be in good company with other newly devoted fans of Chef Anonymous. Come on! Give You Suck a try. You might find you don't suck at all, which is a good thing, because these days straws are in such short supply.

Not as funny as the show
This book is a joke. And I mean that in a good way. Sort of. It contains all kinds of "tips" for amateur cooks with all the same humor of Mel in his YouTuve series, "You Suck at Cooking." The problem is, without hearing his voice say the words, it just kind of sounds a bit foolish, and it's just too much of that surreal, dry type of humor to take in very large doses. As a cookbook, it's got some great recipes in it, and the pictures (though silly, showing a plate of food with some pliers as a utensil where a fork should be, for example) are really professional looking, so it's a good purchase. Just be aware it's just a bit too weird. At least in my opinion.

Yup. This is the one.
Accurate assessment of my skills and ways to improve them. Works for me.

Such a fun, practical cookbook
Bought this as a gift for my daughter...half as a joke and half serious. I read it through before giving it to her and thought it was great. It was well written, had great tips and fun, interesting recipes. And all of that was done in a amusing tone. I assumed it would be very basic, beginner recipes and was pleasantly surprised to find that to not be the case. Highly recommend this cookbook.

The book was a gift for someone at Christmas. However, she asked for it after doing research to find a book with good, healthy, easy to understand and make recipes. I did have a quick flick through and it is a great recipe book.

Fantastic cookbook with all the humor of its creator. My family loves watching You Suck At Cooking YouTube channel. I was so happy to have stumbled on his cook book.

A really fun recipe book - as good, if not better, than YSAC YouTube videos. I read every word... so funny, and I'm looking forward to working my way through every recipe. Every one of them looks delicious. Long live calamari :-)

If you know anything about YSAC, you might expect a cookbook that rides on personality, absurdist humour, gags and which features recipes that are probably hit and miss. You'd be right about the (brilliant) absurdist humour and gags but (surprise, surprise!!) very wrong about the recipes. They work, and as someone who has authored cookbooks and worked as a chef, though I have not yet tried all the recipes here, I can tell you they stand up to scrutiny; they're not fancy, but they work. The Brussamic Sprouts are amazing, the way the basmati rice in Panic-Fried Black Beans and Rice is cooked would make an Asian mother in law weep with joy, and the Pan-Fried Kale uses (omg!) four cloves of garlic! Yes! That's the minimum amount of garlic you need to make kale taste good. Too many cookbooks pander to garlic phobe sensibilities and I'm sick of it. This guy tells it like it is. In a sea of precious, needlessly complicated and painfully PC cookbooks, this one's an unapologetic, roaring renegade. Thank you YSAC! If you're in two minds, don't be. Just buy it. Even if you never cook from it, the hilarious, irreverent and surprisingly insightful prose alone is worth the price of the book.

I wouldn't have expected anything less than epic from YSAC after all this time, and boy this sure doesn't dissapoint!
