Great for the home shop and DIYer.
Since I already have several Makita 18V / 36V tools this seemed like a good fit for my shop. In the past I have relied on pneumatic die grinders for cleaning up welds, rust removal, grinding in hard to reach areas, etc. The problem is that pneumatic die grinders are absolute air hogs! After just a few minutes of grinding or buffing my 5 HP compressor was running constantly and I've even had the thermal overload trip out on the motor. That's a very inefficient way of getting the job done. This die grinder has solved that problem along with being a lot quieter than pneumatic grinders. With a 5 amp hour battery it runs more than long enough for most jobs I've undertaken. But even when I have run it down, I have spare Makita batteries to swap out so that isn't a big deal. In a couple of instances it was a bit too big to get into tight places, but I expected that and was ready to break out the pneumatic grinder as needed. I'm impressed with the power and the ergonomics. It's comfortable and easy to handle even with the bigger batteries. Overall I'm very pleased and impressed. In my opinion this is more than adequate for the home shop or DIY user. A+ Makita!

This is a beast
I use it like a supper Dremel tool. Better hang on because it has lots of torque.

Great field tool.
Iāve been using this to hone out holes in red iron and de-buring field cuts. Perfect for when youāre up in a boom and need to make last minute adjustments. The one complaint is that the caps for the brushes fall out immediately and donāt like staying in so I had to tape them up.

Works for me!
Was hesitant at first to buy this product. My main use is for grinding weld beads in tight spots I can't reach with an angle grinder. I have a compact metabo die grinder but could not reach the weld beads with it. I was worried about power and battery life. I used the tool extensively yesterday and today on a complex build with several curved surface intersections and tight spots. It was tough to weld š. This tool is working nicely - it's got power to grind down weld beads, and the batteries last long enough and charge fast enough for me to keep working by swapping out two batteries. I'm a fan - glad I bought it.

Two wrenches to open the chuck
Super amazing tool. I love it... Except the chuck. (1) it take 2 wrenchws to loosen and tighten because there's no lock button, (2) it only takes 1/4 bits - it would be so much more useful be adjustable like their drill, ex. Dremel bits.

works like it should
It feels good in my hands. It uses the Makita batteries that I already have.In some ways, I like it better than my smaller pneumatic die grinders in that the larger size has better leverage and I don't have to start my compressor.

Under impressed by rpmās and how often you have to change bit tips
RPMās were appalling and the fact that you can actually stop the tool while trying to complete a task is ridiculous. Shame on you Makita.
