Mosby's Review for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination: 9780323113373: Medicine & Health Science Books @ desertcart.com Review: Mistake-ridden, but good and comprehensive. - I have no medical experience. I didn't take a two-year course for a pharm. tech. license; I just decided to study for this exam and take it because it seemed to be the fastest route for the license. So regarding the book: It has a lot of errors. A. Lot. And if you read through the comments, you'll find all of the typos and false answers to correct in your book (none of which I did, btw). I went through this book several times, retook practice exams (which are almost exactly like the real exam). I did pass, but the exam itself did not feel easy. This was my only study material beyond random practice tests and questions I looked up online, but I think it was easy to understand and a good all-around book. I give this book five stars because despite its shortcomings, I still think this is a mandatory purchase for good study material. I should also mention I didn't use any of the online resources. If you don't know what to study, I'd say the most important topic is pharmacy laws and regulations. But I won't say more. There are much better pieces of advice written in other reviews, so be sure to look at those. Review: The best book to help you pass your exam! - I used this book along with the "PTCB Exam Simplified" book and together, they allowed me to pass my pharmacy technician certification on my 1st try without taking any courses. This was definitely the better of the 2 books. I loved the way this book broke the sections down, and it has an amazing math section which I was so thankful for while taking my test. I read this book cover to cover several times, and the information is displayed in a way that doesn't make it monotonous or boring. I saw some other users had said in their reviews that some of the answers for the practice exams are incorrect, and I found this to be true as well, but it was only a handful of questions and having known this from the other reviews, I expected it and it wasn't a huge deal. I would also suggest purchasing the PTCB Exam Simplified, only because it's a lot smaller and size and easy to take with you to study on the go. However, it doesn't contain even close to the detailed information that this book does, which after taking my test, I realized you NEED to know all the details! I am forever thankful to this book!

Great tool for the exam!
I just took the certification exam on Saturday and passed! This study guide goes into great detail and adheres with the blueprint provided on PTCB. I studied this book along with the Pharmacy Technician Exam study guide by LearningExpress for four weeks. I am graduating with a biology degree and have worked as a stockroom assistant for chemistry labs so I was well off on the anatomy and compounding parts. If you are proficient in algebra, the math is not too bad, a lot of it is to remember the conversion factors (ex. 1 tbsp = 15 mL) and to be able to apply it into the equation (which are mostly proportions!) I honestly think that you can go off with just studying from this book, since I only bought the other one without knowing it was outdated from this exam. I mostly studied from this book. I only really looked at what I needed to know from the blueprint and read up on categories for those. As a general tip from a finally stress free student to you, I would mainly focus on the math, pharmacy laws, brand-generic drug names and classification, and general rules in the retail and hospital setting. For my exam, I had a lot of questions that asked about insurance policies Do the practice exams!! Repetition is the best way to memorize in my opinion

Great Review for the Pharamcy Technician Certification Exam
This book is 370 pages of great information. This book has the updated PTCE blueprint and the chapters are broken up into 9 domains. Plenty of practice questions that are very helpful. This book is amazing - and it helped me a lot to clear my PEBC pharmacy tech exams - for CANADA. Despite of being of USA standards - a lot of information specially the IV, calculations and hazardous information relates to canadian standards as well. The only con i would say is that the calculations really gets repetitive. I wish it had more variety.

This book was recommended, but as a Canadian I find it only confuses the issue as it is very much based on American information. There are also many calculation errors in the book (Chapter 3 to be precise), and unfortunately 'close enough' isn't acceptable when it comes to a patient's dose. If you are studying in America, it may be more useful, but if you are studying in Canada, avoid this book. You can find better sources elsewhere.
