Dream watercolour kit at a budget price
I'd been meaning to get the Cotman field kit for a while but the prices were much higher in other stores. As soon as I saw the price on Amazon, I placed the order. I was a little doubtful about the item as there's a newer version now called the Field Pocket Set (previous one is Field Box, as per the official site) and it's almost the same as the Professional set in price. The seller actually got me the newer version at a slightly higher price than the old version in the States, which is completely fine considering shipping. My order was supposed to arrive in 2 and a half weeks as it was being imported from the States but I received it in 1 and a half weeks instead! There was a small issue with the original tracking number and I reached out to Amazon customer support and they got in touch with the seller who updated it.Coming to the actual kit... The exterior is completely white in colour (old kit was navy blue) and I'll probably add some stickers to make it look a bit more attractive. The colours are less pigmented compared to Brustro and Faber-Castell that I've used in the past (I'm guessing the professional ones are different), but they still look rich and wash off easily which is good as there's limited water that one can carry. The bottle that comes in the kit can fill the container completely only once. To swatch the colours, I filled just half of the container and the water was usable even after that.Overall, I think it's a good choice for urban sketching and painting. I still need to paint and experiment and see how it works in the future.

Great
W&N never disappoints. Excellent pigmentation, the palette is small and easy to carry, the water pen has given me no trouble till now (no leakages, and the brush holds the water well)

Good fieldset watercolor in affordable price
Good quality. Cotman colours also good in pigments. Value for money.2 cons :Travel brush is very small size (size number one). It could have been bigger size around 3 or 4The water holder locating position is higher than palette it's not easy to use. It could have been in line with palette when working.Otherwise I love this set.

Great pigment
I love the variety of colors. I thought the tubes would be too small but a little goes a long way. I’m just starting out with watercolor and like the tubes because they’re easier to mix to create other shades. The pigment is strong. Overall, very nice set. I also use watercolor pencil, which is easier for me, but I’m up for the challenge and may combine the pencils and the paints. Please forgive the amateur painting—just wanted to show you the color vibrancy. I’d recommend it.

An ideal watercolor starter set for beginners
The media could not be loaded. Several years ago, I decided to follow some tutorials from my high school art book and take watercolors more seriously. I bought quality paper (Strathmore, cellulose 300 gsm; at the time, I wasn't aware of the difference between cotton and cellulose) and a decent watercolor set without compromising my finances. Good watercolors can be quite expensive. So, in December 2016, I ordered this sketch set that was on discount, and I have no regrets. I can proudly say that these were my first watercolors from a reputable brand, even though they are student/academy quality.- The box/presentation: The plastic box doesn't feel cheap; it's very sturdy. However, since the lid doesn't come off, it's sometimes difficult to clean the edge where the hinge of the mixing tray is. To address this, I carefully remove all the half pans and wash the entire box from time to time. It has a small and compact size. The closed box measures 13x6 cm.- Colors / Half-Pans: The colors seemed very good to me at that time, with excellent pigmentation. While they can't compare to professional watercolors, they were a great option for a beginner who wanted to enjoy learning the technique. Many purist watercolorists may disagree with the inclusion of white, but I found it useful for adding details and experimenting with pastel colors. The ability to experiment made it worthwhile to have in the set. The set includes two yellows, two reds, two blues, and two greens, each in warm and cool versions, plus three earth tones. This selection helped me learn how to mix colors to get the shades I wanted. Initially, seeing a palette of 48 colors was overwhelming, but this smaller set was more manageable. I would have preferred if they had included the pigment numbers on the side, but it only lists the color names. However, you can find this information on the official Winsor & Newton website.- Brush: I still have the brush that came with the set, but it's not for daily use. It serves the set's main purpose, which is to make sketches, but I usually painted on 9x12 inches paper (the size of the notebook I bought at the time), so I often used larger brushes. The round brush is of decent quality and good for making details.I'm very happy to have learned the basics of watercolor technique with this set.Below, I will share the pigments for this set, if it helps anyone:- Lemon Yellow Hue: PY175- Cadmium Yellow Hue: PY65, PY97- Cadmium Red Pale Hue: PR255, PY65- Alizarin Crimson Hue: PR206- Ultramarine: PB29- Intense Blue (Phthalo Blue): PB15- Viridian Hue: PG7- Sap Green: PB15, PG7, PY139- Yellow Ochre: PY42- Burnt Sienna: PR101- Burnt Umber: PBr7, PY42- Chinese White: PW5
