Q: Does it work well with a cloth? I want to use it as a mop.

Yes, you can. That is how I use it. For those that don't seem to understand it is very common in many countries not to use the type of mop we us in the US. You take a cloth and simply drape it over the head of the squeegee. When you are done mopping you throw the rag in the wash. I like this method much better since I always use a clean cloth. No nasty mop head sitting around.

Q: does this work pick up dog hair well on hardwood floors?

We do not have a dog but do have cats and yes it does pick up the cat hair. Also at the hair dressers that I go to, it picks up those hairs as well.

Q: How long is the broom head?

The broom handle is 4ft 3inches.The broom head is 12 inches or 1 ft

Q: What is recommended dust pan to use with this head? Ive been using mine with a rubber lipped one and it doesnt work great

It's really more of an outdoor thing.
