Perfect motor for inflatable kayak
The Watersnake ASP24 trollling motor has been a perfect lightweight addition to my inflatable fishing kayak set-up. I like being able to choose between slow and fast speeds... and between forward and reverse... quickly with the flip of the switch. The steering is easy and with a reverse option you don't have to turn the motor all the way around to change direction. This allows me to cast a fly line, briefly move the boat away in the correct direction to take out the slack or feed out more line, and then pause/stop the motor for retrieve. The results with stillwater trout fishing have been fantastic! The motor does not drag significantly if paused while paddling. The tilt mechanism works quickly and perfectly so the motor can be tilted out of the way easily when paddling for extended periods, in shallow water or when landing the boat. The unit comes cabled and ready to clip to a deep cycle marine battery and draws very little power... it ran intermittently 6 hours per day for 2 days without a re-charge on a 75aH battery. It is designed for use in both fresh and saltwater, so I look forward to taking it with me soon to the Oregon Coast for tidal estuary exploration and crabbing. Highly recommended!

Great Motor and value
Main use is on a River with kayak. Purchased this along with a LifePo4 20Ah battery and built my own motor mount to fit in rear rod holders (out of 1.25” PVC, 2x4 and 3/8” hardware, all in $30). MPH is probably 2 on low and 3 on high. Draw is 9amps on low and 20 on high. 20Ah battery can probably last 1hr on high and 2hrs or so low (I was out 4hrs today). Battery and motor are very light. What else? Prop isn’t great but isn’t terrible, hit a few branches underwater and it didn’t snap (suggest to buy a spare and bring it with you). Get this model over the 19lb thrust, the extra power draw and weight are minimal. My yak is a 9ft sit on top fishing kayak, weight rating 350lbs, my weight 200lbs, 6ft tall.

Good motor but cheep kayak mount
I bought 3 of these specifically for my kayaks. The mounting bracket has a nice design but there were two main problems. Fist the stainless steel nuts are too small for the plastic inserts and when you try to tighten down the clamps the nut will slip inside the housing. The second problem is its impossible to hand tighten the bolts enough to keep both the horizontal and vertical bars from moving when you turn on the motor. I had to use JBWeld epoxy to keep the nuts in place and create a special key that fits over the bolts to give me more leverage to tighten down the nuts. Hopefully this will solve the problem. The steering handle is very flimsy so you have to be careful when using that as well. The motor seems to be of good quality but the propeller is made of thin plastic and that could be an issue if you happen to run into an debris while on the water.

Very light, good power, small.
First off highly recommend the bull nose rudder attachment for this especially if you plan on side mounting this on your Kayak like i did. First impressions, the power is good don't have a way to measure speed but definitely was faster than I could paddle at full strength. Perfect for small lakes. The 24" is on the small end and had to make a few adjustments to my mount so that it could probably be deep enough in the water, after that it was perfect but really was considering a 30". The best part about this though is the portability of it, it's extremely light, small so easy to throw anywhere in the car or the kayak when loading. Cons 24" rod a little too small but made it work though i have to reach low hold the trolling motor handle Could use battery meter especially for it's price point Handle is small, like maybe 4" also little flimsy Propeller seems very brittle and weak, replacement oem is even worse but hasn't broke yet

Kayak bracket received NOT the same one in photo
I ordered this product, T24 with the kayak mount expecting to receive what is pictured in the photo, with the mounting bracket containing the rod, which according to Watersnake is "patented, swivels, adjustable at so many angles, etc.". Well, what I received was NOT what was pictured. I received something different and it does NOT work. It's horrible. The part that is supposed to connect the mounting bracket on the actual kayak to the round, "swivel" mount is NOT a rod, it's some jagged plastic thing that does not hold. Not only that, the jack bar is soooo tight that you need excessive force to insert it into the two mounting collars. I even tried to grease it, didn't help - don't attempt to adjust it while on the water you'll fall in. Those 2 round mounting collars don't open up enough for the rod to slip through. And they don't pivot that well on that upper round mounting bracket. We have a boat, a two person canoe and two kayaks and I am experienced with trolling motors. We have a Minn Kota Riptide 45 lb for the two person canoe and I wanted a light weight one for a kayak. I did a lot of research prior to ordering this, I went on youtube and watched many videos, including the one from Watersnake themselves with the Aussie guy showing how to mount and use this very product. The mounting bracket I received is NOT the one shown in these videos. If it's a brand new design, they need to scrap it and go back to the drawing board. Either way it's not what I ordered. I sent an email directly to Watersnake in Australia, waiting to hear back from them, meanwhile, since I only have 30 days, I think I am going to return it for a full refund. I still want a trolling motor for my kayak, and although the kayak mounting bracket stinks, the motor is fine, although I think they should have 3 speeds and not just 2. Price is good and I am off the Chesapeake Bay and need the salt water model. Contemplating jury-rigging a lightweight motor mount and ordering one with the standard bracket, and I might give Watersnake another try because their standard mount says it only weighs 11 lbs. Will keep you posted. I hope this post helps you.

I use this to access my yacht's mooring from the shore. It drives my 2.6m lightweight inflatable dinghy well with 2 folk and plenty of luggage on board. It's light and easy to operate. If it catches weed it doesn't have sufficient power to clear itself. It wouldn't be adequate with that dinghy into a chop or a strong wind but you can always row as well. I am generally impressed with its performance and it is very easy to transport and put on and take off the dinghy while in the water. I have only used it for this season so can't comment on how long it will last. I'm very pleased with it though. 21/9/25 Now used it regularly for 4 seasons in salt water. It has been completely reliable and ideal for my purposes as it's so light and sips electricity. I didn't think it would last this long.

The motor its self, perfect. The new revised mount, not so good. Was thinking of getting another one lol, and make my own mount and have 1 either side, best option for this I think.
