D-Link Ethernet Switch, 5 Port Gigabit Unmanaged Metal Desktop Plug and Play Compact (DGS-105),Black

This is a review of the DGS-105 switch. I'm happy with this switch and the price, performance and features. This switch is connected to my router's built-in switch on port 5 of the DGS-105. On port 1 I have my office PC and on port 2 I have connected my NAS storage server. I was concerned primarily when buying a switch that it be able to support a fast switch fabric so I can do multiple things simultaneously with no bottlenecks. I have tested the DGS-105 and I am able to get full throughput to my NAS of 115 MB/s read and write while my PC is simultaneously watching iTunes 4K streaming or Twitch. My NAS works with Dynamic DNS so I can access my files while on travel or out of the house and the switch works fine for this purpose and I tested to make sure this works. Works on the DGS-105. I used some adhesive foam tape to tape this to a shelf in my office because the cables coming out of the front can make it tweak or move on the shelf. I was mostly concerned with concurrent transfers when buying this and it works great on my home network with a really easy installation and good performance. If you're looking for a good switch for a small area of your home or office I would suggest the DGS-105 because it can handle lots of traffic with no seeming throughput issues. I'm happy with this purchase, the quality and the price. Hope this review helps you out. If you're wondering I'm using the Synology DiskStation DS918+ and this switch can support most of the features I use on the NAS. Works with DS file on Android and streaming to my AppleTV over Samba with no issues.

I'll keep this short: I recently purchased a different Ethernet Switch, the TP-Link SG105, and the TP-Link did NOT work. I immediately returned the TP-Link for a full refund. Then I purchased this D-Link Ethernet Switch, and it WORKS PERFECTLY. I strongly recommend this D-Link Ethernet Switch.

Works like a champ

I have had the same switch now for a few years and needed another one for a 2nd location in our home. I have been pleased with how easy it is to connect to my ethernet and it's size makes it unobtrusive to it's location. I did research other manufacturer's before deciding on getting 2nd one of this brand and feel that the duration I have gotten from the first one makes it a good value compared to the other brands considered.

Bear in mind, I'm a grandmother with limited tech skills... not a cool computer tech brain like I'd love to be. Until I started researching, I wasn't even aware there were such fantastic things available. My apartment had ONE ethernet cord coming in (it is a LAN shared by three households). That meant I could only hook up my computer and nothing else. Wanting to add my router, Kindle Fire and magic jack plus, I knew I had to find a solution! The D-Link 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch (DGS-105) was the best thing I ever could've found! I opened the box, connected it to the ethernet wire, then plugged in my computer to test it. It worked immediately. Before testing it, I had feared it might slow down the other folks' connections and didn't want that to happen. Well, it worked fabulously, so then I plugged in my router to see what would happen. So cool, it didn't affect anyone else on this LAN, but I now had wireless internet, too, which I had thought was gone forever before being able to connect my router to this nifty switch! Anyway, I wanted to say it's wonderful, easy to set up/use, does exactly what it says it does, it never runs hot and it turned a LAN into a multi-outlet wired and wireless (with my router attached) internet system for all my gadgets. I'm very pleased with this purchase!

So far this has been a good switch. My first one at home it was easy to install and worked on start up. The metal box is solid. The 1 Gb/s ports all work but the total throughput is about 2 Gb/s so you can't saturate all the ports but for the price it is good for home use.

I have always liked D-Link they make quality products. I can count on their products to be what they say they are never any surprises or let downs. I originally bought the D-Link DES-105 Fast Ethernet Switch cause it was immediately available for my sudden work from home covid19 work station. I liked it so much I searched for the best price and availability for the upgrade DGS-105 Gigabit Ethernet Switch and grabbed it. I love the duel green and amber flashing lights on each port indicating status of speed and activity on connections. Excellent product as expected works flawlessly up and running in minutes out of the box. Simple plug n play no software needed no needed drivers to install. The quality metal box is a big plus for me has a little heft to it feels good and solid. Sits flat on the desk when cables are attached not floating around like cheap plastic boxes do. Has 2 anchors for wall mounting or 4 stick on rubber feet for desk use. I recommend this D-Link DGS-105 Gigabit Ethernet Switch to anyone. "If it says D-Link - It Don't Stink" Richard

It has arrived sharp on time. Good price considering that is D-link product and the quality of this brand is a certainity. It is fast and easy to install, it doesn't require any network knowledge. I purchaised this product because My wi-fi connection is not always stable and the signal not always of a good quality. So I thought about this rj45 switch to solve some stability issues with some periferals like console, smart TV and my IT work station. Now all are working perfectly and the connection is stable. NOTE: It isn't a router and it isn't a wifi access point, but just a network switch.

Il D-Link DGS-105 è uno switch compatto ma estremamente affidabile, a mio avviso ideale sia per piccoli uffici che per l’uso domestico. Al tatto si percepisce subito l’ottima qualità costruttiva: il case interamente in metallo garantisce robustezza e una buona dissipazione del calore, rendendolo perfetto per un utilizzo continuativo 24/7. Ho poruto constatare che le cinque porte Gigabit Ethernet offrono realmemte una velocità di trasferimento fino a 1000 Mbps, permettendo di collegare contemporaneamenre il PC, lastampanti, il NAS e un altro router cablato a circa 20 metri senza alcun problema. L’installazione è plug & play rende tutto molto più pratico, basta collegarlo alla corrente e ai dispositivi, senza alcuna configurazione software. Il consumo elettrico è estremamente contenuto, sicuramente grazie alla sua tecnologia Green Ethernet!! Dal punto di vista delle prestazioni, il DGS-105 ha un’eccellente stabilità della connessione, anche sotto carichi di traffico elevati. È quindi perfetto per streaming, gaming o trasferimenti di file di grandi dimensioni.

Purchased for my wife's home office. Only had one network LAN plug from the router, but she had multiple devices so relied on wireless connectivity to the router in another part of the building, lots of interference. Connecting this port to the one LAN connection and then running cat6 patch cords to all the devices in her office allowed for reliable, high speed connections. Port 1 for incoming line from router, two printers, two docks. Just the right size. Small, unobtrusive, sturdy, quiet, plug'n'play. Did have to do a network reset on the printers (HP, Brother) to force them to use the new wired network connection over previously configured wifi, that's about all I can add to the knowledge base here.
