Thoughtful, detailed explanation from beginning to end-highly recommend.
Rhonda Willers book was good beginning to end. She gave clear descriptions with just the right amount of detail. The book is thoughtfully put together. Starting with a brief history of terra sig, how to make it, how to use it and then several chapters on an ever deepening way how some very creative people make use of it themselves. She took the time to research the images she uses of other's work and gives the nerdy info we crave in ceramic books; clay body types, finishes used and firing temps. It's always there. I've successfully made and used a couple different recipes from the book. It's a great reference tool and gave clear guidance. In a couple instances the publisher stumbled with matching the numbered descriptions of a process with the photos. You need to turn the page here and there to see the photo of a sequence that is being described.I look forward to other books from the author for she has as much talent writing as with her ceramic work!

Great step-by-step for Terra Sig beginners
This book is written with the new-to-terra-sig potter in mind—super easy-to-follow instructions with lots of great historical and contemporary information on this finishing technique. The pictures are very instructive and useful as well as the formulas and helpful hints for making your own terra sigllata. Best resource I've found on this topic.

The best book on terra sig
This is a wonderful book full of useful information, recipes, and examples. I usually like to look at photos and pictures more than the words in pottery books. However, this book captured my full attention and it is really well written. The author is also very approachable. I had some questions after reading the book and contacted her on instagram, she responded in a few days and I really appreciate that.

Great information!
I was a little surprised at the price of this book, but decided to buy it anyway. the information is just wonderful- I do a fair amount of this process, so having this information at my fingertips, all in one place has really been a godsend. There’s a lot about testing and a little section on using other chemicals for glazing effects. There’s also some nice images of how artists use it and a little bit about their process, which is kind of inspirational and fun. All in all, I think it was really worth buying.

Best Terra Sig Resource Book!
The best book on Terra Sig I have encountered. The examples and pictures are wonderful (I recommend the Kindle or PDF version of the book to enlarge the pics.). There’s a 2-star review here that makes NO sense to me - there are plenty of examples, instructions, examples of others’ work, line blends, etc - a truly outstanding resource with plenty of guidance on how to develop your own experiments/techniques/etc. I had been doing cone 10 soda firing for years, and wanted to play with cone 2/3 earthenware electric firings with terra sig surfaces. Rhonda’s book was a wonderful tool for this exploration. Recommend it enthusiastically without reservation. And make sure to look up her NCECA lecture on Terra Sig with Pete Pinnell on YouTube. It’s great, too.
