Revell 1: 24 Scale VW Golf 1 GTI Model Kit

This Revell kit is filled with great detail. Engine bay, interior and underbody/suspension all get their full representation. Steering is workable so that front wheels have limited pose range and the hood opens to reveal a very nice engine and engine bay. The kit is a newer tooling so moldings are crisp and free of flash, warping, and parting seams. Of extra interest is the inclusion of both right and left hand drive dashboards in case you wish to build your GTI for English roads. Note that this kit does employ a number of tiny and delicate pieces, so it may not be the best choice if this is you're first go at the hobby. That said the overall fit is excellent, the instructions are very clear, and detail is represented with a good measure of accuracy. I know because my first car was a US spec VW Rabbit and, even though this kit is a GTI, for the most part the cars were very similar. The first car I ever owned was a 1980 vw scirocco, then i bought a 1983 rabbit mk1 GTI. Then another 1983 scirocco, then a1977 mk1 rabbit, ive also owned numerous mk1 jettas, mk2 golf gti's a 1987 16v scirocco, and two mk4 VR6 GTI's.... Basically I love these cars and without a doubt this model is legit. Its good quality, great detail and definitely over priced, but hey... Its German engendered! All in all im satisfied and bought two, one to build and one to save.

This is a superb kit. Very detailed kit. The details include engine, interior, underbody and body. The fit and finish are excellent. Overall a very satisfying build.

If you wanna build a Mark I GTI this is your only option. Not bad for an old kit. Excellent decals

The front part of the brace was broken had to super glue back in place

new mold for the MK1 gt1! looks great in the box.

My package arrived sooner but the box it's so damaged two side's it's so crushed. I really hope the content it's fine.

I ordered this model kit right around the time the pandemic lockdowns began. I got the kit some weeks later, and began assembling. I noticed some parts were duplicate while others were missing, only after parts of the kit had been built. I contacted the seller, and they agreed to replace the kit for me.
