Inexpensive way I lower the Alkalinity in Swimming Pool water
Inexpensive way I lower the Alkalinity in Swimming Pool water. Comes in a big bag so be prepared to store it somewhere dry. It is Industrial Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) which I used to buy as Alkalinity Down at the pool store for a lot more $$.

Good baking soda
It came in a paper bag, then a plastic bag over that, and it was in its own box, so none got spilled. I feel bad for the Fed Ex guy, though.I add baking soda to non-clumping kitty litter to make it clump. This soda looks like good stuff, it all fit in an air tight 5-gallon bucket, and it should last about a year. Buying the non-clumping litter and baking soda by the 50 lbs bag is cheaper in the long run than buying the name brand clumping litter, and it seems fresher to sprinkle the soda on top. My cats seem to like it; no accidents since I started adding soda to their litter

Comes as a fine powder and dissolves quickly (< 1 day). Great value. Packed well with no damage to packaging.

great value for pool sodium bicarb
Packaging is always an issue on bulk items like this. Solvay sodium bicarb came in a strong paper bag (pictured in the listing), which was itself wrapped in a thick clear plastic bag, and then in a sturdy box. Product is very clean and not clumped at all. Great value for those who use this in pool applications.

The sodium bicarbonate worked exactly as expected.

Quality product, but the bag was ripped.
I think they should do more to be sure that the bag is not punctured and shipping as it’s just paper. However, the product works as described and I would order it again..

It's sodium bicarbonate - glad to get a lot of it
This is used in a swimming pool to raise alkalinity or pH. What I like about it is it has a long shelf life and is one of the easier chemicals to store, mix and apply. It's not an acid or chlorine - it's basically baking soda, so harmless. I like that it came in a 50 lb bag, as you can use a pound or two when you need to raise these measures. It came in a box which held a plastic back which this bicarbinate was in. So even if the outside box would have gotten wet in the rain or something, during shipping, it would have been protected.

Raise Ph and Alk economically.
Perfect for our inground pool. I purchased this last year and I will probably get a total of 4 swimming seasons out of it which makes it economical.
