Genki I: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese Workbook (Japanese and English Edition)

This pairs well with he textbook and the problems are not duplicated. Highly recomend

The Genki: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese Workbook I is an excellent resource for anyone embarking on their journey to learn Japanese. This workbook provides comprehensive exercises that reinforce the lessons, making it a great addition to any Japanese language learning toolkit. Its effectiveness in facilitating understanding and practice makes it a highly recommended purchase for Japanese language learners.

Book in great shape and delivered in a timely Manner

My son's Japanese teacher required that we purchase this book and the accompanying textbook before my son could start taking Japanese lessons. So far my son has found both helpful in his learning. The workbook is well organized and allows space to practice writing. It also includes a CD so the student can listen to the language and learn correct inflections, pronunciations, etc. Prior to purchasing the books and beginning lessons, my son was self-teaching. He learned a broad variety but not as in-depth as he needed to in order to really learn the language. The workbook has been really nice to help him gain the depth and practice he needs. He seems to enjoy using both books--that's an accomplishment! I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to begin learning Japanese.

This is a companion to the textbook. This one has pages that you can write in, to practice your Japanese penmanship and such. Really, it's a typical foreign language lesson workbook. Nothing super cool, nothing super awful. However, this series is NOT setup for you to teach yourself the language. It's best to have an instructor and a structured lesson plan that utilizes the exercises in the book. This particular volume is good for your first year of Japanese language studies. You will learn your first 50 or so "kanji" characters, which are based on Chinese. You will also learn some katakana, which is used for bringing foreign (English, French, etc.) words into Japanese. The bulk of it, however, focuses on the hiragana. That is the alphabet with the loopy characters that is used for most words in the Japanese language. The kanji, katakana, and hiragana are all used interchangeably in Japanese, and so this book usually starts by showing you the katagana or hiragana (those two are mutually exclusive) spelling for a word. Then a few lessons later you might be taught the kanji for the word. You will learn your basic Japanese alphabets, how to tell time and dates, greetings, and basic conversation phrases such as "I like sushi," or "My favorite singer is Paul McCartney. Who is yours?"

I bought the textbook and it already has plenty of examples and practice questions after each chapter. It doesn’t hurt to buy the workbook to reinforce what you learned after each chapter, or use it as a refresher. I find that some of the practices questions from the workbook are similar to the textbook ones though. You can also download free pdf of this textbook instead of buying this (I bought mine before I found out the free download). However, it is still a good investment to have this to accommodate the textbook.

I love the Genki series. The workbook came in great shape and so did the CD. You don't necessarily need to have this workbook but if you don’t have anyone to practice with and no one to test/grade you then you should probably get this book. Once you're done, if you don’t have anyone to grae you, you could grade yourself with the workbook answers online somewhere. 頑張ってください

Product arrived on time and as described, well-packaged and undamaged with CD intact! The pages have perforations and can be torn out which is great, so you can just take in the pages you need for that day’s classes.

Very well laid out, officially recognized learning standard, would recommend
