The Man in the Iron Mask

This movie was recommended by my beloved girlfriend who I love dearly. She told me about it but said nothing about the ending. My Paloma was right! Excellent movie. I’ve watched it many times over.

I have watched this since the late 90's and never grow tired of this classic movie. The renowned Musketeers reunite for one last epic battle. They are played by Gabriel Byrne, John Malkovich, Jeremy Irons & Gerard Depardieu who are at their finest, nobelist & best acting. Leonardo DiCaprio is excellent playing King Louis XIV, an arrogant, vile, egoist who rules France while his twin brother was locked up in a horrible prison as a child and forced to wear an iron mask so no one can recognize him or allow him to be a royal. This story is riveting to the end that you don't expect. GREAT MOVIE! DVD arrived on time and played perfectly.

Great actors and so many good ones . Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich , Gabriel Byrne , just to name a few . Underrated in my opinion

It was a clean movie, without all the F bombs and profanity in todays cinema. That was refreshing. The story is memorable and compelling and hanky worthy at the end. There is no better story than a musketeer story. It embodies all that is good; courage, loyalty, faithfulness, brotherhood, talent, justice and more. We need more movies like that these days.

Movie is good as is the transfer. My beef is with Amazon. Third movie this year with a cracked case. One movie was actually cracked in half. Need to improve their standards!

Excellent film, good story line acting is superb, no bad words but there is some skin from both ladies and men.

The 4K video on this film is superb. SHOUT has done and admirable job with the new mastering for their new (late 2023 release) 4K version. Highly recommended that fans of this movie with larger, quality displays consider upgrading to this edition for their collection. Audio is excellent as well. Overall, 5 stars!

I remember as a kid watching this and thinking it was some historical Drama.Then seeing the three musketeer appears and thinking "What is going on here?"But it was so wonderfully epic and relevant as to the nature of heroism that I rolled with it.There would pass more than a few years before I'd discover this is actually an adaptation from the Duma Sequel "Ten Years Later".In fact, that movie is much closer to the original three musketeers than the Disney movie made out of the original book. (Spoiler... The Cardinal isn't a bad guy, and the musketeers are FAR from perfect.)This movie didn't age. It is still as good and as relevant now than it was at the time.Maybe even more so. Would you lie to end your persecution? Would you lie to make the world a better place?About who you are, about how you feel, about whom you love and what you wish for?And what if heroes could be heroes as well as men in the same life?We all age, we all end up to a point where choosing our way to go becomes more important than our pains and sadness... But what kind of men can look up to this and face danger still, knowing that anything less would be more painful?This movie manages to be comedic, dramatic, pragmatic and heroic all at once.If you lack your dose of Renaissance aesthetic this month, why not give it a try?
