Improved braking.
My 66 Ford F100 with powered drum brakes was struggling after a couple of stops. Not only did this thing help a lot with that but it also makes it easier to tune.

Very Happy
works as designed.. only stores highest Vacuum created does not produce vacuum. as you let off gas pedal, canister captures the highest vac. and stores it for use when stopping.. Good for low idle or bigger cam shaft motors..

Directions?
I took off one star since my vacuum canister had no directions in the factory sealed box. I took off another star since Mr. Gasket had no directions on their website. Totally unacceptable. The item looks identical to Crane canister #99590-1 so I installed it per their directions. The big plastic one-way check valve on top of the cannister should connect to an engine source of vacuum with a 3/8" id hard line or non-collapsible hose. (I have had soft rubber fuel line collapse under high vacuum conditions). The brass hose barb you install on the top of the canister needs to connect with a 3/8" id line to your power brake unit. The third hole on top can be capped with the enclosed allen wrench pipe plug or screw in a vacuum gauge there. The enclosed nuts for mounting are 12mm. The unit is well built and finished but make sure you know where you will mount this big can before purchasing it. All of the hose connections just press on which makes you think that this item might cause several vacuum leaks - just what you didn't want. I advise using a bit of silicone glue or adding hose clamps at every joint.I experimented on a 305 Chevy (not 350), smallblock that had 17 pounds of vacuum at idle and added a cannister. The pedal feel was very hard yet it did not apply greater power to the brakes and they actually felt worse. I removed the cannister, replace the single vacuum line and regained more control over the power brakes.Free advice: remember that both ignition and valve timing affect engine vacuum, so check those first. Usually you just advance the timing until it does not ping and you get the maximum vacuum. Also, always use a dual, not single, vacuum booster. Don't be cheap. This item will affordably solve the problem IF your vacuum is too low. Once again, when considering shipping costs, Amazon had the lowest price.

the finish is good, heavy duty so if it needs to mounted ...
comes with a handful of fittings/grommets and the mounting bracket. the finish is good, heavy duty so if it needs to mounted in a fender, im sure it will weather nicely. i had to.i had measured it when i put in it and calculated the cubic inched but it was a couple months ago. off the top of my head i think it was 140 ish inchs of capacity? like the actual canister was 5 or 5.5 inches in diameter by 6 something inches. dont quote me on that but gives you a rough idea.i installed it in large box truck that probably should have air brakes but isuzu instead put juice brakes on it with huge booster and factory canister. said canister rusted out and isuzu wanted $350 plus 2weeks shipping for the canister. this worked just fine even at half capacity.

Good Vacuum Reservoir
The cam in my 454 is fairly aggressive and produces only around 8" Hg of vacuum - very bad for power brakes. Although the vacuum canister will NOT produce more vacuum, it does act act a reservoir and allows me to get a few more pumps on the brakes than before. Use of a vacuum canister is certainly not a permanent fix for my situation, but it's an inexpensive stop-gap measure until I purchase an electric air pump to maintain the proper vacuum required for my setup.

Vacuum reservoir
I was surprised at the quality of this little vacuum canister. It comes with everything needed to mount and has a nice powder coated finish.
