Broan-Nutone 161 Bulb Heater, Energy-Saving Single Bulb Infrared Type non-IC Ceiling Heater, White, 250-Watt

Had a hard time finding a heat light to install in my bathroom. Not only did this solve that problem, but the timer that comes with this light is silent, which was exactly what I wanted. Other light systems might need a metal box in the attic surrounding the heat light fixture, but I suspect this may not need that. I had one already so will use it to be safe. The installation took very little time. Works great, and being a 250w bulb it warms things up faster than a 175w.

Needed some extra heat when getting out of the shower, this lamp worked perfectly and install was easy also, get the timer with it.

Had electrician install it. Does require attic access. Reading other reviews it seem ppl don't understand this is just the housing that you insert the actual heat lamp/bulb into, by itself it does not provide any heat output, the bulb you BUY SEPARATELY IS THE ONE THAT PROVIDES HEAT. So that means the heat output is solely dependent on what Bulb/lamp you buy. I purchased an infrared heat lap from your local hardware store and it heats up my bathroom just fine. Makes it nice and warm after getting out of the shower in those cold winter days. Stay warm out there guys!

This product was as described. I read many reviews about people saying that the light wasn't warm enough....I was very skeptical about purchasing this light and did extensive research on it. As far as the fixture goes it is just as described.Cons...it isn't ic rated which is a definite downside, but can be worked around.I did find that the light really doesn't put out very much heat, which is a bummer. I can't give this product a bad review, like other people do, because the fixture functions properly and is not the cause of not producing enough heat. THE BULB on the other hand is the issue. I used a Sylvania light bulb 250w which didn't provide much heat at all. I switched to a GE 250w bulb and it does indeed produce a little more heat, not a ton, but more. So I would give the Sylvania bulb a bad review compared to the GEAlthough it isn't recommended at all I ordered a 375w bulb and am going to try that.So I give this product a good review in the sense that it works and was just as described. I don't think I would recommend this product though. I think installed another type of heat would be the way to go if you need heat that will actually have more of an effect.

The slide out brackets are for new construction, or a retrofit where there is access from above. I had no access from above, in my retrofit, so I had to create 2" standoffs from conduit, which I secured through the two opposite sides to ceiling joists with 3" screws. The hardest part is snaking the cable down to the wall timer.

I installed this in a small bathroom. 8 foot ceiling. It was easy enough to install. It does not generate much heat. If I had to do again, I would order the double light. I’m not sure if that would generate much more heat though.

Replaced one just like it that I installed 20+ years ago. The old one still worked , but I'm doing a DIY remodel, and wanted a new one. Good for another 20 ? We'll see.

This unit was installed in a small (approx 25 sq. ft.) bath and provides extra comfort when coming out of the bath/shower. Being a retro-fit, it was necessary to make mounting brackets out of light angle to screw the unit to.

As expected

Somehow it did come come with the infrared light bulb, it got a LED light bulb instead. And it does not heat up the bathroom as that was the reason I buy this unit.
