OMG Perfect Ending for D+F - LOVED every minute of it
5+ "Riding the Happily-Ever-After Wave" KissesI don't want to write this review. Because if I write this review that means this book is over. This means Drew + Fable are `done.' I don't want them to be done. I'm not ready to let go. Yes, I'm aware I sound like a 5 year old having a temper tantrum, but my heart is so full of their love the thought of moving on makes me feel empty. Just like Fable did with Drew in OWGF, they have weaseled their way under my skin, into my brain, straight to my soul and I L.O.V.E. them. These two horribly damaged people that need each other in the worst way, their love is just so perfect.`I'd do anything to be your everything. - Drew...or Fable?'Second Chance Boyfriend picks right up where One Week Girlfriend left off...they're apart, yearning to be together but apart. Fable is giving Drew time, Drew thinks Fable hates them, and me? I'm screaming at my kindle and mentally smashing these two together. Things are a mess, but why can't they be a mess with them together? Each of them helping the other to make them better! :-( Yes...I'm pouting again, okay I'll stop.`I stare at my stupid little poem that the girl I love will never read. I draw little squiggly lines around it. A cursive F, just like I was taught in elementary school. Her name. Fable. A story. A myth. A fairy tale. She's my story. I want to live and breathe and die for her and she has no idea how much she consumes my thoughts. To the point I think of nothing else. I'd rather sit in class and write her love poems with secret messages in them than pay attention to what's really going on my life. What a f^@%ing mess I am.'Fable is...being her usual self. Strong. Resilient. Because she has to be, that's the only way she knows how to be, and you love her for it. She's taking care of her brother, barely tolerating her mother, working herself to the bone and thinking about Drew the entire time. She's torn, as much as she wants to go to him, she wants him to come to her more.`I miss him. I hate that I miss him but I do. Funny how someone can come into your life for such a brief time but leave such a lasting impression. He permanently imprinted himself on my heart, and I permanently imprinted his name on my skin.'Drew is...broken. He thinks he's ruined their chance. He knows he loves her, but he is actually doing the right thing - getting help, trying to piece himself back together, so he can be with her. He fell apart after Thanksgiving and he's better but he's not whole...because he doesn't have Fable. I liked that he was going to therapy, cause how many guys in their 20's would really admit to having enough problems they need to seek a professionals help to figure it out. Shows maturity."I've always run away in the past. But you, Fable. You make me want to stay."Thru a `twist' of all the right things happening at all the right times, they reconnect - Thank God! Because in all honesty, if one of these two was going to have to break down and go to the other, D+F would never happen...stubborn little mules. *Insert my happy dance here*Because Drew & Fable together equals SO much goodness! Of course things get more complicated with their respective families. Fable's mom is an evil wench, end of story. Drew's dad is...honestly, as broken as Drew. And Adele - I have a few choice words for Adele. Ugly words. Lots of them. There is a scene in Drew's apartment with Fable and Adele - I slow golf clapped...Fable is awesome and I wish I could pat her on the back."It's hard to believe someone loves you for who you are when they've seen all your faults and know all your secrets."The fact that these two survived their upbringings and still were able to find each other, find love, how can you not love that? Their story touched me and I can't get over it. All the things I loved about OWGF are back in full force with SCBF. The quotes, the marshmallow's, the angsty slash my heart out moments, the hot and steamy OMG moments...that wonderful combination that is just oh so perfect. And then Monica makes it more perfect. The letter that Broke. Me. Down. In OWGF...there's more. So many more. You thought Drew Callahan was perfect before - ha! He's better...he writes poems. Yes, I drooled. And the tattoo's - oh lord, I loved the tattoo's...it was so them. So perfect.`She is my everything and I swear at this very moment, I will never let her go.'I tip my hat to Miss. Murphy, she has a way of making my jaw drop, my eyes water, my heart leap into my throat...she just does it for me in all the best ways possible. At 89% you coulda knocked me over with a feather. I was so not expecting it, I loved it because I wasn't expecting it but it was one of those `OMG did she just do that?' moments - pure genius. Scared me...a lot, cause your heart drops that late in the book...we all need our HEA and a heart dropping moment like that, so late in the book, I just kept thinking no...no no no no no...you can't take my D+F away from me, not again! But...she didn't. *sigh*`I close my eyes and press my forehead to his firm chest. "Thank you," I whisper. "You saved me.""I'll always save you. You never have to worry about that."'I loved their ending. Once again, I refer to the perfect. That's them for me...they're one of the classic couples in my head, one of my fav's...and they're meant to be, always and forever. I will beg and hope and plead for more, because I hate goodbyes and never want the story to be over, but it is. I got my HEA, I had my goofy grin, and my heart is full of love for them. This is a no brainer for me...OWGF and SCBF are just books that must be read. <3

Very good addition to the series :D
4 starsThis was a very good story. I really liked both Drew and Fable and was so happy to see things work out for them in this story. For anyone considering this that hasn't read book #1 [book:One Week Girlfriend|17202452] I would definitely recommend reading that before starting this book. The back story is decently spelled out in this book but I think there would still be gaps without the reading of [book:One Week Girlfriend|17202452] first.Fable is a young woman that has a lot on her shoulders. She is pretty much a mother to her 14 year old brother, Owen, since their mother is a drunk that barely is around. She spent a week with Drew over Thanksgiving vacation and fell for him during that time but because of some seriously messed up stuff that went down, Drew pulled away and stayed away. After a couple months, Fable figured Drew was never coming back and tried to move on with her life.Drew has had a lot of bad in his life, things that have scared him emotionally. Because of this, he shut down emotionally and Fable was the first girl that brought out emotions in him. Drew started falling for Fable over Thanksgiving vacation in his home town. Drew was very unhappy that she ended up finding out his deep, dark secrets but was surprised and happy that she could still care for him regardless of his dark past. Unfortunately, some devastating news he found out right at the end of book #1 caused him to freak and pull away from Fable. Once he pulled away, Drew had trouble going to see Fable because he felt she deserved so much better than him and was sure he'd messed things up so she wouldn't want him any more anyways.Fable misses Drew but wasn't able to get him to return her calls or anything so she finally gave up. She ends up getting a job at a new restaurant where she makes much better money. Drew has been seeing a counselor (or maybe she's a psychiatrist, I can't remember if it said) about his emotional issues and trying to work through things. He lies to himself about how much he wants to see Fable but it's not just Fable he's pulled away from...it's everyone. His counselor recommended that he get out more and see friends so he agrees to go to the birthday party of one of the football team at a new restaurant in town. He goes and is surprised to see Fable working as a waitress at the restaurant. He doesn't approach her but when one of the other guys gets drunk and starts hassling her, Drew is quick to step in to try to help her. They end up getting a chance alone to talk but Fable isn't willing to trust Drew after he ditched on her and then left her alone for months so she's not very receptive to him. Later, Drew ends up texting Fable with their key word (from book #1), marshmallow, which has always been their keyword meaning one of them is in trouble and needs saving. This gets Drew and Fable together again and Drew is able to talk to Fable and get her to give him another chance. She's still leery of relying on him but is willing to start seeing him and see how things go.Things are bumpy as Drew and Fable try to sync their lives together. Fable has never had anyone to take care of her and isn't used to taking help from anyone or having to rely on anyone so now she has trouble letting Drew in. Drew has never been in a relationship before and seeing that he has a tenancy to stick his foot in his mouth, he doesn't always say that right things and sometimes pisses Fable off. They both love each other though. They wont admit it to each other at first but they do make an effort to make things work and eventually are able to admit their feelings for each other. I really liked seeing them work through their issues and grow their relationship in to something serious and solid. They encounter a lot of drama that that has to be dealt with along the way. Mostly these are family issues as Fable's mom ends up completely deserting her and Owen so Fable becomes completely responsible for Owen. It doesn't help matters that Owen is freaked by his mom's abandonment and proceeds to blame Fable for their mom leaving (making things even harder on Fable but Drew steps up wonderfully and helps out as much as she'll let him). Drew also has family issues as his father and step-mother are going through a possible divorce and he's plagued with the doubts on whether he should tell his father what his step-mother did to him when he was young. The decision is taken out of his hands but it ends up being a good thing and Drew is relieved when his dad doesn't blame Drew for what happened. He's also very happy that this will mean that his step-mother will be out of their lives for good. Unfortunately, more drama comes their way when Drew's step-mother turns psycho and threatens Fable. Drew steps up again and puts himself in the line of fire to save Fable and the danger is brought to an end. After that we're given a bit more with a glimpse that goes a bit in to the future so we can see how things are going for Drew and Fable. I really loved the ending and loved seeing Drew and Fable get their well deserved HEA.This was a very good story. I really loved Fable and Drew and enjoyed seeing their story. It was such a good story, seeing them work their way through obstacles to be together and support each other was great. Things weren't always smooth but it's great to see people that are willing to work to stay together and make things work. I'd recommend this book (but after reading [book:One Week Girlfriend|17202452]). Thumbs up! :D* note - I listened to the audio version of this book. It had 2 narrators, one female for the parts that came from Fable's PoV and the other male for the part from Drew's PoV. They both did a good job and there were a few times (especially on the narration of Drew's PoV) where the narration surprised me with how well it expressed the emotions of that point in the story.

Love Fable & Drew but prefer book 1
I loved finding out what happened next for Drew and Fable, they are easily up there in my top 5 NA couples. There's such an intensity and passion in their romance which I find endearing. Seeing them grow together was beautiful and heart warming. It was interesting that in this book we get more of a social context for the two of them. Seeing them in real life rather than the fake 1 week thing meant we got to know other characters. Owen I really liked. It's not a common relationship displayed in books I read, the big sister/little brother relationship, and given the unique family circumstances these two were really close. Meeting Jen and Colin was weird I thought though. I kind of got the impression we were supposed to suspect some drama from that quarter but I never really bought that red herring (if it was in fact intended to be one). It actually felt like they were there as a set up for a future book featuring them, I'm assuming that's not true but I would totally read that because the little pieces of info we got about them were definitely intriguing. Why I can't mark this as high as OWG though is just because it didn't elicit that seem overwhelming emotional response from me. Don't get me wrong I found their romance believable and completely beautiful in all it's imperfections but the plot of this one just didn't take me along for the ride. The romance felt like a foregone conclusion and the drama lacked the suspense of book 1. I'm thrilled that I didn't have to sit through pages of torment of them being apart or arguing over some stupid misunderstanding, but I missed the 'will they or won't they' that we get in book 1.I still love Fable and Drew though, and what a beautiful job the author made of creating their story.

Fab!!
4 stars! You have to have read One Week Girlfriend before reading this one..This book continues 2 months after the end of One Week Girlfriend.. Fable has not seen or heard from Drew and is still confused as to why he just upped and left..she still loves him but is too proud and too wrapped up in her own problems to do anything about it. She has got a new job at a more exclusive bar and is on better money so she can support herself and her little brother Owen.A chance meeting at said exclusive bar puts Drew and Fable together once again, Fable realises that the feelings have not gone away as does Drew, he realises how much he loves Fable and that he doesn't ever want to lose her again. He needs to sort himself, get on with his life and that includes Fable. The chemistry that these two have is seriously hot, you can feel it when they are together, however after this chance meeting Fable is not willing to put herself out there again. Drew goes out on a lads night out, that he doesn't want to go on and ends up getting drunk, he calls Fable to come and help him, she drives him home and they end up reuniting, with some very steamy, very hot make up sex. They realise that they belong together and that they need to communicate better and work at this relationship that they have going. This will always be difficult with Fable's troubles at home and Drew's troubles with his dad and step-mum.Fable's mum puts the first spanner in the works by losing her job and clearing the house out of all furniture leaving Fable and Owen with nothing. They both go to live temporarily at Drew's place until she can find somewhere else for them to live. Then comes the step mum Adele, she is pure pure evil and what happens in this book does not change my opinion of her one bit, I cannot say what happens as it will spoil it, but she is one piece work. Also, very annoyingly we still don't know if what was revealed at the end of One Week Girlfriend is actually true. One good thing from this is that Drew seems to build a better relationship with his dad through this, secrets are revealed to him and he realises exactly what Drew has had to contend with, this somewhat helps Drew come to terms with it himself and ultimately this helps with his relationship with Fable.Must admit, not sure I would be happy that this is the last we hear from Drew and Fable, I mean I would love to see marriage, kids etc etc etc see where their life takes them going forward, after having such a journey to get them to this "happy place" I would love a book just about them in their happy times and relive their amazing connection once again...who could ever tire of MARSHMALLOWS!![...]

Find out what happens to Drew and Fable!
This is a follow on from the first part of Drew and Fable's story, which is called "One Week Girlfriend" so if you haven't read that you should read it before this as although you could probably work out the backstory you won't know the details of the emotional journey these two have already been through together. We pick up a couple of months after the first book. Drew has run away from his feelings again, and is missing Fable badly. He realises how stupid he has been to throw away a relationship which could really have helped him work through his demons and when he meets again with Fable he seizes the chance to try again. If you've read the first book you will know that these two both have some serious issues and baggage and they continue their improvement into the realms of "normal" rather than remaining messed up. We also get to see some more of Adele (HATE her, she turns my stomach!) and more of Fable's brother Owen, who I liked, I thought he was a really believable character. I am probably not selling this book well, saying it's all about healing etc, but it's a heartwarming book rather than a soppy tale, both Drew and Fable are such likeable characters and so good for each other that I really enjoyed seeing their progress towards a happy ending.

Things I loved about this book.....MarshmallowThe quotes at the start of each chapter. It had moments that made me, laugh, smile, cry, get cross, shout at my kindle, want punch someone.Drew & Fable, loved them together, loved them individually, love their relationship , great hot couple.Drew's poems, so cute. When Drew & Fable argued, they made up quickly, didn't last for 5 chapters.Sexual true confession, loved that game.Owen, great kid.Finding out the Colin wasn't such a creeper after all.Fable's fight with Adele. She had it coming.Adele getting her just deserts, nope don't feel sorry for her at all, not one little bit. While reading the last chapter I have such a big grin on my face.Overall Second chance boyfriend was a great ending to Drew & Fable's story. Monica Murphy was true to her words, it waslonger, sexier and there was no cliffhanger. I loved it.

An excellent conclusion
I loved it, but the first book had the edge for me. There is no disputing that this is an emotional continuation of Drew and Fable's journey, but it seemed a little rushed towards the end; I just felt that the reveal between father and son deserved much more than a couple of pages. And the introduction of Colin seemed to be hinting towards potential unrest, but then nothing transpired (although it has set things up perfectly for his and Jen's story). That aside, it was still a book I struggled to put down. Both Drew and Fable are vulnerable as individuals, but together their strength starts to unfold and they have the chance to heal. It's a beautiful touching, sexy, heart-wrenching, frustrating and heartwarming read. Despite my minor disappointments, it is still one of the best NA stories out there and I would highly recommend.Whilst I'm looking forward to Colin and Jen's book, what I'm really excited about is 'Four Years Later' to see how their lives evolve.
