Tiny Frame, Herculean Performance
I've been playing keyboards since I was in 2nd grade. I've played a lot of pianos, organs, synths, stage pianos, and electronic keyboards. The heavier the instrument, the more stable a base you require. The best stand I've used for oversized keyboards was the Ultimate Support APEX model, although if you only use one keyboard, a stand that supports two is overkill (and looks terrible when you don't need the extra height on the stand sticking out). Also have had the misfortune of using X-brace stands (both single and dual bracing) to support heavy workstations like my Korg Triton Extreme 88. Tried some of the Z-frame and U-shaped stands, but almost all of them have tendency to wobble under the weight of a keyboard like the Extreme88. Forget putting those kinds of stands on uneven surfaces or carpets, or you'll add some high-stress tension to your playing as the keyboard rocks and rolls. While the stand isn't perfect (what is perfection, and what cost does it come at), it is by far the best platform for a heavy keyboard like the Extreme88, or oversized gear cases I'm sure I could probably use this in place of the screw-in Fender Rhodes legs those pianos favored, although I might consider permanently mounting this stand to the Rhodes case itself, since it has fold-out legs. Would definitely have to find the right balance point under the Rhodes, but the idea is definitely possible. With respect to the comments from other buyers regarding the top surface being smooth metal (no bumpers, cushions, or other protective material) - I plan to either use rubberized shelf liner, or recycle a yoga mat and attach it with silicon glue to the top frame, or use some other appropriate material with the proper bonding agent. Not entirely sure whether I would apply the material to the entire frame surface, or parts of the frame where the keyboard would rest.

Sturdy, well constructed, serves my needs quite well
I do video for the local school. I need a stand I could setup in various sports gyms and stadiums that I can put my laptop and mixer on to connect to our video camera. I can setup legs in different heights and have a flat, stable setup for my gear. You never know what kinds of seats you are going to have to work with and the stand is so adjustable I've never had problems making a comfortable, working platform. I think the weight is proportionate to the security you would want to protect your expensive gear in the stands and then pack it up and throw into the belly box of a school bus. All the screws work and indents in the legs help in securing the correct height without leg slippage in various heights. I had the wood shop teacher build a shelf for the top and then secured it to the stand's top. If you need an adjustable, durable stand for various needs, you can't go wrong. And the holes in the top secure all kinds of keyboards rubber stand offs. That's what I originally used this type of stand for but my wife got that stand and keyboard in the divorce.

NOT on a Stage
I have my Medeli AKX 10 set up on this stand. It is perfectly functional and sturdy as part of my home studio's set-up. It is stable, and level, and feels very sturdy in this position.HOWEVER...If I were to put this set-up on a stage, I would be terrified of it falling over from the slightest bump. I am seated 100% of the time with this setup. The couple of times that I have bumped it the front legs pick up off the ground very easily. The table holding my PC monitors has caught the synth from falling over, but that would NOT be there in a live gigging situation.I had a "Z" style stand from Yamaha with my MODX7. That was a way heavier, way sturdier stand. If I was gigging with this synth, I would want something like that. But for stationary home use that won't be prone to sudden jolts, this is a much more user friendly experience. (I literally broke a toe accidentally kicking the "Z" stand while stumbling in the dark. This stand is completely open underneath.)

My 2 cents. Works. And nice price to boot
Was sick of x stands and was thinking of Gator frameworks for the build quality but some reviewers noted design flaws. Overall reviews on the jamstands on par or better to the gator. As many stated, jamstand turns out to be a solid, functional performer @ it's price pt. 1st thing to address, one review stated it has tendency to buckle if bumped from side. Tip: lift one side by the leg (or crossbar) and pull out on it, then apply mild down pressure on table as you set it down while still holding the leg. I find that if you do this it is pretty darn solid. Success! Feet levelers too... That's really it so I'll end with a few minor issues. I plan to use sitting down so wont comment on height extension. It doesn't really fold completely flat but does get fairly small for storage. Not highest grade metal but adequate for most needs. The set screw knobs are fairly cheap plastic and could strip out from heavy torque or being banged. I plan to be somewhat gentle with it for longevity. For gigs you might find a case/bag or at least set it on top of the gear pile. Other than that this is perfect for my home studio!

Excellent Quality, Solid, Sturdy, well priced....
I needed a stand to put my master Studio Controller on to make it accessible from my master console. I had an X Stand temporarily and it wobbled like a rocking horse.I have played on Ultimate Support Stand professionally and in the studio. This JamStand is their budget priced stand, but it did not disappoint. I loaded up the heavy 88 key controller and it is a solid as a rock.I will not be gigging with this stand as I use Spyder Pro and Jaspers when playing multi tiered keys.If you are looking for a solid and sturdy stand to hold your beast, this will do.
