Step-by-Step Medical Coding, 2015 Edition 1st Edition

A very readable text for a sometimes dry, difficult subject. After using other texts, I came back to this one. The pages are well arranged with understandable explanations, photos, and actual guidelines printed throughout the text so one doesn't have to jump between the CPT manual and this textbook.

Ultimately, I dropped the coding class. I thought this was a horrible book to study by. I think the author could have used more simplified language to get her point across. From the chapters I came across, (and my instructor skipped around alot) The book did not tell me how to code. I am a Step1, Step2, Step3 kind of person: and this book did not deliver that. (And neither did my instructor for that matter) Now to be fair, maybe in some other chapters, the author has this informatin laid out; if she does; my apologies.All in all, if you are taking this class online; get other study aids to go with it.Oh and another thing, whenever I tried to register with (Evolve) to access GEM files: it was a mess. The customer service rep is telling me to contact my instructor; my instructor is telling me to contact the customer service rep. Now do you see why I dropped this class. More than that, there are NOT a lot of jobs in this field.

Very helpful. I was studying for my CPC exam and needed some extra help. Carol does a great job of breaking things down and making it easy to understand. I believe this helped me pass my exam.

I repurchased this book to help me with my office coding at work. This book is great! I am a surgery coder. It helps a lot with me coding I &D for abcess, etc.

I got this as backup hoping it would help clarify some concepts, but not of much use. Not enough examples. Might be OK if you had an instructor and class time. No mention of E codes at all... A few useful illustrations.

I got my book and started to read right away. It has a lot of interesting facts in it. I like the questions at the end of each chapter/section. Thanks.

The book is in fine shape, but it smells so bad I can barely stand to read it.
