Quality picture light
This light is attractive, solid, and high quality. The LED lights are nice -- not too bright. A dimmer on the remote control allows you to select four levels of brightness. Turn it on, and if you choose to dim, keep your finger pressed to the "on" button; it will dim automatically. It also memorizes the level you set it at each & every time you turn it off & on again. I keep mine on the dimmest setting. As for the installation, no problem. Everything you need is included in the package. Attach the anchor to the wall first, then push the stemmed light into the anchor. It secures w/ a brass knob. Make sure to adequately tighten that little knob.Caution: this light is @ 12 inches wide. My painting is only 18 inches wide. At night, the light spills out onto the wall on each side. The majority of the LED's focus is exactly where I want (you can adjust the head of the light). It illuminates and enhances the amber & gold sky in the painting. LOVE IT! But I don't care for the shadows on the wall. Since I was determined to purchase a battery-operated, LED light, and the smallest one I could find was this 12-inch brass beauty, I will live with it. However, if I could only find a SIX-INCH one made by the same company and be able to insert the stemmed light into the same anchor I have now, I would be in heaven!!! My painting is 18 inches wide. So heed the manufacturer's statement that this light can light up to a 36" picture.

Reasonably priced LED alternative to corded and halogen bulb art lamps - don't expect museum like lighting power
For the money, this LED lamp is relatively attractive, and illuminates pretty well with an incandescent-like tinge . It avoids heat/UV damage issues that could occur with a halogen light placed as close to the art work displayed as this product. Had to switch the placement of it from the center top to the bottom of the art frame in order for the light to be sufficient to adequately shine on the important bottom half of the painting subject displayed. In effect, screwed to the bottom of the art frame shining upward, it lights the art work much as if it were a mantel light. The plastic housed remote control seems to work well from across a modest size room. Although the lighting intensity can be increased/decreased by 4 settings from the remote, in practice, only the brightest intensity setting really displays the art work adequately. Did not have any problems inserting the 4 D size batteries into the plastic housing or screwing to the back of the frame, however top screw may penetrate the front of a thin frame or frame arm weight "lean on" the top of the frame leaving a mark, so it should be carefully placed and inspected for positioning first before mounting. Care should be taken to avoid snapping off the plastic cover where the batteries are inserted. Can't say how long the batteries will last, but have been lighting the art work for 3-4 hours a day for a few weeks, and have not noticed any decrease in lighting power. This lamp, while adequate for lighting a relatively modest size picture, should not be purchased if the art work to be lighted is more than 20 inches long or 12 inches high, considering that a frame surrounding the work will take up an additional three to four inches of space all around. However, although it sounds strange (and might look that way too), for a taller vertical oriented picture, a purchaser might consider acquiring two lamps, to hang one each on the center top and bottom of the art frame, to give extra illumination to the work being displayed.

LED Remote
We just purchased this and so far are pleased. It was easy to assemble and attach to our picture and turns on easily with the remote. We have not used it much so can't comment on how long batteries last, etc.

Works Well But Too Small For My Big Portrait
I used this light to brighten my large framed print of 'Prayer At Valley Forge' and it's not quite big enough to do the job. The picture is 18" x 26". The light works well and would be fine for a smaller picture.

This light is not meant for large paintings!
My painting is 33" wide and 45" tall. It is in dark blues, so I wanted a light to brighten it up in the evenings. This one barely covers 1/3 of the canvas. I initially ordered the antique brass to go with my gold frame, but when it arrived it clearly looked silver. I returned it (2nd shipping charge) to the seller in exchange for the polished brass, which is very nice looking and arrived quickly. The remote is great, and has a dimmer. So although I might recommend this for a smaller painting, in my case I just have to chalk it up to a bad purchasing decision.

Solved installation problem and lighting problem in minutes!
O.K., I am an old lady and a particular one at that. I just moved to a new home 1,200 miles away and in a much more rural setting that before. When I needed to install my antique oil painting, I spoke to the man who was doing some remodeling for me. I explained that I needed to hard-wire lighting for this painting on a wall that did not have any electrical outlets or wiring to tie into. He explained all that it would take to get the job done and gave me an estimated price, along with telling me about poking holes in dry-wall and patching them and fishing electrical wires. I also knew that the painting, without good lighting just wasn't going to cut it on that wall.Local electrical suppliers did not have a solution for me, but one suggested a battery powered remote controlled light, but they didn't have one in stock. I turned to Amazon. I knew that they would have one available. Sure enough, I ordered it, it was delivered. Installation was a breeze. One simple screw in the wall was all it took. Now I have good lighting over the painting and I am a happy woman. I ordered the light antique brass housing and it looks extremely good. The painting is only about 20 niches wide and about 14 inches tall, but when the light is on that painting comes alive. I think you will be happy with this lighting fixture.

works well and easy to install
works well and easy to install, but the color is different than in the description. It is more a nickle color not antique brass. The light dimmer is great. Hopefully it last long and battery life is good.

AWEFUL PRODUCT - DO NOT BUY!
This is a terrible product. The light bulb is cool white when it should be soft white. It doesn't illuminate the painting correctly. The batteries don't last at all. If you buy this product you will either have to turn it off most of the time or spend a fortune on batteries.
