I love her poetry. This book gave me a smidgen of insight into Maya's personality and her journey into showing the world what a phenomenal writer she was.

Whether you are reading this to know more about Maya or as a glimpse into history that we have not seen. This book is a perfect walk through our recent history without the sensationalism that most storytellers deliver.Perfect 10 as always Maya!

This is such a beautiful work.Maya Angelou led such a diverse, unusual life and wrote about it with so much beauty and a touch of self-deprecation. This volume, which talks of her life around the time of her fortieth birthday, combines the personal with the political, the mundane with the celestial. It can be read on its own, or added to the other volumes of her autobiographical series. It contains so much wisdom in its relatively few pages that it is enough , on its own, to inspire people.Maya Angelou spent this time of her life in the company of ( black ) literary royalty and Black politics, and give us an insight of what led to the Watts riots in LA or of Harlem on the day that MLK was killed.If anyone reads this volume who doesn’t know her poetry or her essays, I hope it will lead them to discover more about this great woman.

My wife is a big fan of Maya Angelou so I got the series for her. She told me that while she still finds Maya's life story fascinating, unlike the earlier books in the series, she found this one to be a bit slower, more difficult to get into, and not as deep and insightful as she had anticipated. Nonetheless, she found this final book in Angelou's autobiography series a rewarding read.

She’s an easy read, very smart & Interesting

Testimony of one of the most incredible women to grace the 20th century. Ms. Angelo strikes deep with her wisdom and humor. I had the pleasure to witness her speaking at the University of Iowa. She set the tempo by snapping her fingers and kept the same pace during her presentation. She was breathtaking!

Well written,flowing words,amazing journey by an incredible woman. May she interesting in peace. I am so grateful to have heard her speak and read her books.

The story of a woman who repeatedly makes incredibly selfish life choices. She did have a rough start in life, but I fail to understand why so many honor her.

I can only say that EVERYONE should read Maya Angelou.Her writing should be enjoyed and her message should be absorbed by people off all ages, I firmly believe that the planet would be a better place if we did.

This is by far the worst of the autobiography’s Maya has written. It was a disappointing end to the series. For the first time I saw her arrogance. Did I miss that before? Was it there before? What a shame.

Written with such honesty, an inspiring look into such a passionate woman's life. Historical events with well known figures all unfold as part of Maya`s own life and the effects of these had on her. Very humbling.

Loved the whole series of books in Maya’s auto biography. Very entertaining, interesting, educational, amusing and easy to feed.
