Good for my 65 beetle!
Just bought this belt to replace the old 9.5x905 continental belt that was on my '65 beetle. My bug's engine is a 1600cc sp with an alternator, not a 1200cc engine generator, but the 9.5x905 fit it perfectly before so if you bug has that belt size this one should be good. The old belt hadn't failed, but I figured it'd be a good idea to swap it since it was over 20 years old from what I could tell. Get either the nice continental belts or these for sure. The continentals are not available on amazon with prime shipping unfortunately. This new gates belt is slightly longer, but that is negated by it being slightly wider so it sits higher in the pulleys. When I swapped out my 9.5x905 belt, this one fit almost exactly the same as the old one but I had to remove one shim from inside the pulley and put it on front of the pulley, so there is a slight difference. Over all, this belt works great, and you must appease the VW gods by having some spare belts in the frunk, so I'm going to order a few more for sure :D

Great V-Belt Fantastic Price!
Gates belts are some of the finest v-belts you can buy! PERIOD!!! Especially at this price!!!! I have a 73 VW super beetle that the v-belt shredded and left me stranded. I had to get one at a major parts house store and paid 23.00 for one GATES XL 7355. I got 2 GATES XL 7355 v-belts for less than what I paid at the parts store for just one, including delivery!! Needless to say I never want to have do that again.

This is the alternator belt for a 2004 nissan frontier 4 cyl truck. Other vehicle specific belts for this application from autozone, top cog, etc did not last. They rode too low in the pullys. After a little bit of wear, belt tension could no longer be adjusted. This Gates belt is wider and rides higher in the pullys affording plenty of belt tension adjustment.

It's a Gates belt - what more do you need
These are my go-to belts for the alternator on my experimental airplane. They are resilient and seem to last long enough under the harsh conditions found in the engine bay in cars, planes, etc.
