Excellent Clipper
For the price this clipper does exactly what is intended for and it works great on Persian cats and other animal breeds that have unusually thick and coarse hair. The clipper’s vibration is low and a non-issue to me and it makes a soft humming sound while it’s on, just like any other standard clipper out there. The clipper does get a little hot after about an hour of use but is no big deal, just let it cool, wipe any excess hair off the blades, add a little bit more oil to the blades and you're good to go again. The additional small trimmer that was included is completely useless, works great on my sideburns but not on animals. After about 6 uses the blades will become dull and won’t cut as good, again not a big deal at all. Just unscrew the blades with any standard Phillips screw driver, send them back to the Wahl Corporation with a check or money order for 7 dollars and they will send them back to you re-sharpened just like new again. Please keep in mind that every pet is different and while some pets do not mind at all that you cut their hair, other pets will hate it. It all depends on their specific temperament and not the clippers that you use. It’s always best to untangle and get any knots out of your pet’s hair BEFORE using the clipper. It will make the whole process a whole lot easier on you and your pet and it will also significantly cut down the time that it takes to cut your pets hair as well. If you’re pet has a lot of hair, its best if you cut it in segments and try to give your pet a break and let them relax instead of doing the entire haircut at once. Be gentle with your pet and give them a treat or two to make them feel better about the whole process. If you want something that’s better and more powerful than get ready to pay a whole lot of money. For me this clipper works great, its well made, still going strong after more than a year of use and more importantly it has saved me a ton of money many times over instead of paying a groomer!

Works well so far
Works well so far. If doing more than one dog, two of these is good so you don't wait around waiting for the inevitable heating up of the clippers. Just switch to the second while the first cools. Makes an easier job of it. Haven't tried the battery operated yet.

Pleasantly surprised!
I have a sixty pound standard poodle. I was saving up for the more expensive Andis clipper set I found on here, but Vincent was getting a bit more matted than a simple combing could handle, and after a cross country move and some medical issues on my end, it had been a while since he'd been to the groomer. I went ahead and purchased this kit against my better judgment. I was almost certain that it would be money wasted and that there was no way on Earth these clippers would be able to get through a few inches of hair and mats to boot. I bathed Vincent, dried him and combed him out as best I could before I got the clippers out. This kit comes with an instructional video with some information about the company, what to do if your blade dulls, and tips and tricks for grooming. Now, keep in mind I have a sixty pound standard. He's about 26 inches high right now and looked very much like a mop. It took several hours to shave him down with a couple small breaks when the clippers got a little hot or when Vincent just got plain tired of standing, but these clippers did an amazing job. They weren't as loud, nor did they vibrate as much as I thought they would. They were easy to handle and easy to use, and I was really delighted that they got the job done very well! The only reason I gave them four stars is because they do get a little hot after a while. I would recommend, if you have a bigger dog as I do, that you take a small break if they start to get hot, but then again, I sort of expected this. Still a very good deal for the price, and came with some accessories and a nice carrying case.

Disappointed at best
When I got these, I was very impressed for the money. But I suppose you get what you pay for.Used them one time through a painstaking hour to get a decent cut and then gave up. The blades completely stopped working, you can see they don't even go back and forth to even cut.Not super quiet, blades aren't very sharp, get hot after about 10-15 minutes so you can't even use them without a guard. Tried sharpening and oil and nothing has helped. Overall, super disappointing purchase.

Good for My Cocker Spaniel
I've never clipped my cocker spaniel before, but her fur was getting long and I didn't want to take her to the groomer. This kit came with everything I needed, including a large and small clippers, guide combs (sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8), comb, scissors, mirror (?? I'll move this to my children's hair trim kit), case, cleaning brush, clipper oil, and DVD.The DVD was very useful, with specific pet trim instructions for the following breeds:+ bichon fries+ poodle+ West Highland white terrier+ cocker spaniel+ shih zhu+ mixed breedThe dogs in the video are well behaved (one was so mellow, it was laying down almost limp) and the groomers are obviously professional. Luckily, my pound pup looked like she was trimmed lots in her previous life, as she just stood there for me to cut her.Overall, the large clippers worked well. I didn't find the small one useful. They show cutting the fur around the foot pads with the small clippers on the video, but my dog didn't like that and I did a better job using scissors there. I liked the guide combs and didn't cut any part of my dog without them. The clippers took off so much fur, I filled up a plastic shopping bag with it. There's no way I could make my dog look like the ones in the video, but I did a decent job and I'm sure I'll improve over time.My dog looks like a puppy now. I'm happy with the results. For the money I'll save trimming her fur, it was a worthwhile purchase.
