The Best Wire Stripper for DIY Projects π πͺ
Guys, let me tell you about the IRWIN VISE-GRIP Wire Stripper. This tool is an absolute game-changer for any DIY enthusiast out there. I mean, it cuts through wires like butter, no joke! The 8-inch size is just perfect for me - not too big, not too small. Plus, the ProTouch Grip is a total lifesaver, providing maximum comfort for those long projects. I seriously can't imagine my toolbox without this bad boy now.Honestly, if you're into DIY stuff or just need a reliable wire stripper for odd jobs around the house, this is the one for you. It handles 10-22 AWG wires like a champ, and the plier-style nose makes it super easy to maneuver. I've used a few different wire strippers in the past, but this one takes the cake. Highly recommend it, folks! π₯π

Good for light usage
Full disclosure, I'm by no means a pro, or even a particularly experienced hobbyist. I was only bitten by the electronics bug recently... and it was big, soul-sized bite.I would give these about 3.5 stars total. Not terrible or useless, but I can definitely see why most people say it's worth spending ~$10 more on a decent set of automatic strippers. If you plan to strip more than a handful of wires, just do yourself a favor. I'll be upgrading soon. For this particular style, these are pretty well designed and have a good range of sizes. Without trying all of the other brands, it's hard to imagine anybody doing a set of these much better than Irwin.I kind of wish I had spent the extra few bucks, but these will still be good to have around. Plus, it's always good to learn things the hard way to a certain extent. A little experience roughing it comes in handy down the line, and makes you really appreciate the better gear when you finally get to use it. My main complaint with these is that I usually have to use a slot 1-2 sizes larger than the wire I'm trying to strip. If I try to strip 12 AWG with the 12 AWG slot, or 16 with 16, etc., it almost always takes a couple, a few, sometimes even a bunch of strands along with the insulation.I just tried to strip some 12 AWG, and it still took a couple of strands even using the 10 AWG slot. Not a huge deal, but if you're a little bit OCD those missing strands will be like a needle in the back of your mind every time you look at that project. Which usually means it's a deal breaker, and you'll be clipping it to try again even if it has no effect on functionality. And then that wire will be 1/2" shorter than the one it's paired with, which is almost an even worse needle in the brain... Actually the first set of +/- I tried to strip with these ended up chasing each other shorter and shorter for those exact reasons. Lose a few strands > try again > trim other one to match > lose a few strands > rinse, repeat. I can't abide having an unsightly black wire a full INCH shorter than the red one on my test circuit. What am I, some kind of animal? Anyway, by the time I was done hacking those wires down, I had also tried some other sizes and was pretty well acquainted with these.TL;DR: If you're a noob, or if you don't anticipate stripping more than a couple of wires per year, these are a good place to start. If you anticipate doing a lot more wiring in the future, just be ready to upgrade soon.

Didn't get fried, 5 stars
Prevented me from winning the Darwin's award as a home owner so-- thank you.It feels clumsy until you loosen the nut in the center, smoothly strips and cuts wire.
