Comfortable. D-width fits my narrow feet. Split sole.
I've got skinny feet, and finding a good fitting pair of shoes is always a challenge. Even more so when it comes to work boots. The D-width on these happens to fit me really well. These are extremely comfortable, even more so than the high dollar Red Wing hikers I had prior to these. That being said, I've had the same problem as many others have stated. The soles have split. Mine split right up by the ball of the foot. I got a couple of years out of them, but I'm not a heavy walker. Had they not split, they'd still have a lot of miles left in the soles. My company gives me an annual boot allowance, so I can't complain too much. I'm about to pull the trigger on another pair. For what it's worth, my Red Wings split in a similar manner, but they were well worn at that point.UPDATE (jan 2015):Second pair of these. VERY comfortable. After a year they've held up very well... except I've split another sole. It's a darn shame because these are otherwise still in very good shape. If it weren't for the split, I could probably get another year out of them. I debating whether or not to purchase another pair. If it were my own money, I'd certainly be looking for another option.

Annoying Hooks for Laces
When trying to pick out a shoe and spending lots of time and reading scrutinizing the details, I missed noticing the shoelace hooks on the upper shank, which aren't easy to notice in the pictures. These are an annoying hassle when tying the shoes, as I would prefer simple holes. I bought Lock Laces just so I could keep the shoes tied before tightening up the shank but the laces would still slip out from behind the hooks. Spend more and get a water resistant model. After four months, the tips started to wear out and the sole had some cracking from the body of the shoe. They also seemed to be sized large, or they got stretched out easily.

Ignore other reviews
Ive had this boot for about six months now, and have held up wonderfully. Im a Carpenter, so these boots see all walks of life on a daily basis, from Framing and Drywall, to Roofing, Flooring, Siding, etc. I was skeptical about buying this boot because of the reviews saying that the soles split after only a month or so, but Ive had these in the dead of winter, working, and now its warm out. and still these boots are holding up great, considering these are the first pair of boots ive purchased in a very long time. I ONLY wore gym shoes for work because of the flexibility, and breathability. And these boots fill that empty spot.

Good to Excellent Work Boot
I have been buying Timberland Pro Safety Toe Boots for my son for over four years now and they have held up beautifully. He is a welder/college student and from two years of high school welding classes through two years of college now, he has worn these boots for work, school and in the woods (mud, water and ATV's!) with no problems. He is a big guy with big feet and is very hard on shoes, I am lucky that a pair lasts about a year for him through all conditions and situations. I usually buy two pair a year so he has one as a spare or for "clean activities" and one for his everyday work and school. A good price for a good shoe, he finds them very comfortable over time, his feet and legs don't ache from standing and moving around! I am ready to buy two more pair for this year!

Best work boot ever
This is my second pair and they are the most comfortable work boot! Worked construction most of my life and wish I could have had boots this comfortable all the time.

major flaw
bought boots through work program and was able to wear them for 8-12 hr shifts from the start. I work in mfg. for 8hr shift with 20 min break on concrete floor. After aprox. 3 months both soles developed a crack then split completely, returned to mfg . by company and an email from me no reply . It has been over 1 year. That said shoes were comfortable and showed little wear I may try again. Disappointed with no response from Timberland about obvious mfg. defect.

Great Boots
I bought these boots about six years ago and have used them in a variety of environments e.g. construction, industrial, etc. They are still pretty comfortable, although I did wear a hole in the leather on the toe but after six years. The toe box is roomy and the boots with the titanium safety toe are the lightest pair of boots that I have owned. I am planning on buying another pair to replacement these.

Good boots but...
I'm a civil engineer and use them on site daily.I stepped on nails, broken glass, metal sheets, twisted rebars, freshly welded (hot) steel pipes, you name it! I like the boots... Comfortable, lightweight (for safety toed work boots) and they aren't as big and "clumsy looking" as other brands. However, they are no as durable as expected: the rear part of my left sole came off and that is something I wouldn't expect to happen from Timberland after 2 years.Tried to repair the loose sole, but contact cement isn't quite doing the job.
