Three Cheers for Tacky (Tacky the Penguin)

Seller was great -- answer questions quickly and sent my book gift wrapped! I love Three Cheers for Tacky -- wonderful book and fun to read aloud.

This is such a sweet story about being different and being accepted. I had my kindergartners color a penguin clip art pic and draw a pic of something they tried hard to do and succeeded. They colored a paper bow clip art tie and I taped it to their shirts. I made crepe paper and popsicle stick pompons and we repeated the cheers Tacky made. They loved it and understood it’s ok to be different.

I liked the Tacky books when teaching. Now that I have grandchildren, they love the books too.

Tacky the Penguin is a odd bird but everyone loves him. This book is great for children who are worried aboutbeing perfect. Tacky can rarely follow expectations but has a big heart and often saves the day. In this bookhe creates an original cheer for his team that helps them win the prize of blue ties and manages tokeep the judges awake during the competition.A fun humorous read with the sweet message.

We [as in preschooler and I] are new to the Tacky series of books, and this was our first purchase. I must say I was rather impressed by the wonderful message contained within this cute story about the little misfit penguin Tacky who wins the day by being himself. Tacky and his group of friends are working on a cheer routine for a contest, and Tacky doesn't seem to get the hang of the routine. His other cheermates have the routine down pat, but the routine itself seems to be rather monotonous. When the contest starts, all the other groups' routines fail to impress the judges, and it is left to Tacky and co. to present a winning routine. Will Tacky go with the flow, or does the misfit penguin actually have something up his sleeve to win the day? The illustrations are cute, but what I liked most about the book was the effective manner in which the message of celebrating being one's self is brought across. Recommended!

My niece is a teacher in Arkansas. Her 1st grade class is sorely lacking in enjoyable books for afternoon reading. I purchased every 'Tacky' title available on Amazon and sent them down to her. I figured penguins in Arkansas would be a novelty for the kids, and they LOVED it!!The 1st graders love Tacky and his crazy adventures; he's always faced w a perplexing problem, but seems to make the right (sometimes tough) choice to solve it. Good lessons for children!

This book was one of my favorites when I was a kid, and was also a huge hit when I tutored elementary school students. Fortunately it doesn't get obnoxious on repeated readings, as I had to listen to it over and over (and over...and over) on several occasions.I still have my copy, but one of my cousins is having a baby and requested books for the shower, so I jumped at the chance to give this book to another generation.

The same old stuff was not the way for Tacky. He tried to be like others but the real Tacky came out and everyone enjoyed the his cheers!

Leant this to someone who never gave it back. Needed to replace it as the children love it so much.

ALL OF YOUR TACKY BOOKS ARE AMAZING, and so much enjoyed by my wee grandson. Anxious to see what others I can buy.
