The only option so far....
I love this machine! So why in the heck dud I give it only 4 stars? For starters, the machine is overpriced for what it is, but they don't have any true competition yet. My goal here us to help them to make the machine better, not to convince anyone to not buy it. I have recommended to my father, neighbors, friends and co-workers.The unit is light so it takes two hands to open. Not a big deal the first 50 or 60 times you do it. They either need to make it heavier (unlikely) or make the lid easier to open with one hand. The lid fits kind of funky to get a decent seal against the hose--this could improve as well. The display screen is SMALL and virtually impossible to read if it is more than a few feet away, you don't have your glasses/contacts on or are half awake. Additionally the poor contrast and pixelated font don't help the situation. The indicator light (red, yellow, green) is a bit obnoxious in a dark room and the way it is lit (3 individual LEDs?) is not as nice as the price tag predicts.Make sure to always keep the lid closed, except when removing or putting your mask in to avoid any foreign material from entering the box.The machine is a little noisy and smelly when running, so I recommend not have people or pets in the room when running.I run for 12 minutes when anything new is introduced into the system and 7 minutes otherwise. Make sure that anything new introduced into the system is properly cleaned first. The clock does NOT retain the time when it looses power! Argh! It is not super convenient to set. But more importantly, the machine will run a second unnecessary cycle even if you have already manually initiated it to run (green light on). This may not seem like a big deal until you have to experience it. Also this seems like it will reset the filter replacement alarm too!The build quality could go up a little for what it is. It is definitely not as well made as my CPAP machine. The replacement filter are too expensive for what they are. I guess it isn't the Gilette model if the razor is overpriced too....That being said. Buy this unit! Your insurance probably won't cover it, but you will not regret it.Oh yeah, this machine uses ozone to do its job. For some reason they actively avoid using the word ozone. Ozone rocks!04AUG17 Update: The ozone smell is getting weaker with time, so I expect that is effectiveness is waning too. I have heard rumors that Philips might have a rival product in the works!Do NOT discard your original tank lid! You will definitely want it if you travel or quit using the SoClean 2.The hose sticking out of the new tank lid makes it difficult to hold the lid open when adding water. Definitely a bit frustrating at times. The need lid does NOT seal as well as the original lid although they look identical. You will know this when your CPAP starts "screaming" when you turn it on. You will think initially that the air pump is going bad, but it is the new lid leaking against the seal; just press and hold the lid against the lid and the system will re-seal.
