It’s great!
I just got this. I hope this cooks well. I wasn’t very thrilled with it after reading the reviews cos it’s smaller than I anticipated and there are 2 different types of pictures on the website. I was hoping for the second picture with those type of grilling marks and a much bigger pan size. Instead I got the first picture. The press is pretty heavy weight. So that’s nice. That’s why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 stars.Update: 17 October 2017- I upgraded this to 5 stars. I used the pan and it was great! I made pork chops in it. The came out just like I put them on the grill. I didn’t use any oil and they fried up nicely! Clean up was easy. No big mess. Nothing burned.

Great for grilling poultry/steak
I’ve owned this exact model pan for more than 10 years! I purchased one in 2008 and used it here and there- I think in the last 5 years I started using it a few times a week. The one from 2008 finally needed replaced last year but I put it off until now.I don’t use it much as a panini press with the top lid (although I should!) but I use it for steak and poultry very often and it’s magnificent.Heat distributed evenly to about 90% of it (the outside corners are hard to reach on an electric round stove), it creates grill marks, requires very little oil, nothing sticks. This is my most used pan and I highly recommend this exact brand/model. I hope Calphalon didn’t make any changes to it and this one lasts just as long !

GOOD QUALITY PAN
My electric Panini maker overheated and burned out durin a period of heavy usage. So, I decided to try a stovetop panini pan. This pan takes a bit of getting used to, but it works very well & does exactly what I need it to do.Does a nice job on sandwiches, though they do need to be flipped, and did a nice job grilling veggies. Good solid weight & very easy clean-up.

Heavy duty pan
This is a great heavy duty pan for any use but is very good for making paninis. Nothing sticks to the pan and it is very easy to clean. The top cover is very heavy and you can just place it on top of your sandwich and the weight of it will do the job.

Favorite cookware
I love this panini pan and use it often. At the grocery store, I buy food that will work for paninis just so I can cook in this pan again. I started looking for a panini maker after seeing how much I paid for one at (famous healthy sandwich restaurant). I thought I was looking for a countertop appliance, but what you really need is the grooved pan with the press. Very heavy and substantial. Doesn't take much butter or oil, and the bread doesn't stick. It's still pretty new; hope it lasts a long time.

I love it so much I have purchased 5
I love this pan so much I have purchased 5 including one for my home and one for Our sailboat that we spend the summer on in the Great Lakes. I took one to the family vacation house and have given at least 2 more for gifts.Works great for searing salmon, finishing sousvide steaks and chops, as well as making bacon.

Great for grilling and paninis
I love this pan! It makes wonderful paninis and is great for grilling meats. Heats up nicely, and the press is fairly good weight. Leaves nice grill marks. The pan is somewhat small, you can make only 2 paninis at a time. Great for a single person or couple, but if you cook for a family, you might want to look for something bigger, or you'll have to cook in batches.

Was sent a previously used product
I have been searching for a panini pan for a long time, and this pan was a great price. However, it was sent to me used. It looked like someone had used it and returned it. I first noticed that the press had water marks on it. Then I found residue from oil between the grill ridges, and I had to clean before I used it. After using it once, the pan seemed to perform well. I am unhappy that Amazon would send a used product.
