Handy ArtDesigner's Palette Artist Acrylic 32 ounce, Gel Medium

This is my preferred matte medium. Great quality for the money.

This medium works really well as a mixer to thicken your paint, adding some really nice texture. It has a pretty good thickness, it holds its shape pretty well. It’s pretty easy to use, although I’ll admit I wished it came with a squeezable lid, instead of just a flat lid. The color also doesn’t affect the pigmentation of whatever paint you’re using, it doesn’t mute the color or dilute it at all, which was surprising to me. I used it with black paint for reference, and it was still solid black, even after using quite a bit of the medium.

Used to do oils but had to convert to acrylic paint, this has helped me to transition. Use it in almost everything, thins and slows drying. Let's me do washes without drowning everything in water. Worked well on canvas for creating a bit of 3d aspect to a large painting. Paintings not done. Don't judge me.

This medium is a great thickness to build into my acrylic paintings and give them the texture I was looking for, absolutely love it. One caution is the smell is a bit strong while it's wet, as these things are, so keep that in mind if you're new to using mediums with your art work. It's a great value as it's a large size for my use as I usually paint on canvases in the 8x10-11x14 range and only use it on one or two objects in my work. It may not be as economical for someone using very large canvases and seeking to cover most of the surface with a very thick coat of medium. For me, I will have to experiment with thicker objects in my work just to be sure to use it up before it deteriorates as these things always do eventually. It has a nice silky spreadability I like and is easy to manipulate into various textures.

The media could not be loaded. Best modeling paste ever! So easy to work with smooth application, great texture, and dries beautifully. A must-have for any artist!
