Kawaii Sweet World Cookbook: 75 Yummy Recipes for Baking That's (Almost) Too Cute to Eat

This book is everything I dreamed it would be. I had recently purchased and returned Rosanna Pansino's Baking All Year Round book because the cost of the the baking materials ALONE (not including ingredients) became insurmountable! The only thing I'd need to purchase is a cake turn table after viewing Rachel's book. I've been a KawaiiSweetWorld fan for 3 years now and I am looking forward to baking Rachel's recipes.After Baking:Her recipes were quite easy to follow. I appreciate the substitution ingredients she offered. The step by step pictures and instructions were quite helpful. I am looking forward to baking her next masterpiece.

Looking through the book- I would say it’s adorable just like her and her YouTube channel. Judging from the ingredient list, the bake goods are all made from scratch, and only the small bits of decorations might be from candy. This isn’t your enhance you’re store box cake cookbook, which fantastic to me! Same goes with the frostings! Another A+.As for the recipes themselves- I only tried one so far and that is the snickerdoodles. I don’t have time to decorate them into owls, but I do have time to make and bake them as normal cookies. There is two problems I’ve encountered with this recipe. 1) She doesn’t tell me what, when, and where to place the 1/4c of sugar mix with 1 tbsp of cinnamon. It’s not in the decorating section either. It just says, “mix and set aside.” So if you’re making this- just opt that step or feel free to waste a bit of your ingredients to throw away in the trash. 2) The bake time is super off! You gotta bake it way longer than 11 minutes! Considering I half the size of the dough to 1tbsp instead of 2 as suggested- it took me 24 minutes to bake it until it’s light brown. Imagine if I did the suggested 2 tbsp of dough! If my half dough doesn’t cook in 11 minutes, there is absolutely no way the suggested size dough would cook in 11 minutes. Just a warning, so you don’t end up eating and serving raw dough.However, the snickerdoodles were delicious! :) Cinnamon is not too strong, just the right amount. I do have to say, they were puffier and not as flat as the cookies in the book, so I’m wondering maybe she use baking soda instead of baking powder even though her book states baking powder.11/28/19 chocolate monkey cookies were very good if you like dark chocolate. It was very potent in that recipe. If not- you probably switch for other chocolates, but keep in mind that the amount of sweetness might be affected by a lot. However- the recipe as is- my 11 year old son loved it. As for myself- it’s good with a glass of milk on hand.The mini turkey pies were absolutely delicious! However, there is no way you can fit 1tbsp of filling in there! It’s more like 2 tsp, but even then- it still overfilled, so be mindful- I guess! And cook time at 25 minutes should probably be around 22-23 minutes. Aside from there, bite size deliciousness!

My 11-year old's review: "This is a very nice cookbook! I am a BIG fan of kawaii! I originally got this book from the library and I was so excited to make one of them! I decided to make the unicorn cupcakes and they are surprisingly easy to make and---yes, delicious.I decided to purchase the book so I always have it! The book came in mint condition, too! It makes our bookshelf look much happier and kawaii! My mom, sister and my brother helped make some of them, too. It really comes in handy to use for the easy substitutes she gives you in the book like for buttermilk. It doesn't have any crazy ingredients that it requires except for black food gel. But, it so happened that our mom had bought fruit twists, so we cut those up and decided to use them for the eyelashes, cheeks, and horns (the part where she used black food gel). We also substituted the white candy melts and used banana. Ours turned out very nicely and the technique of putting food coloring and coconut shreds in a Ziploc bag and shaking it I think will probably come in handy with other recipes we try. :) I like that it's not only for cakes or cupcakes and it has a section for cookies, pies, pastries, cakes, cupcakes, bars, brownies, cake pops, and a section for all other ones that don't fall into those categories, candy and other sweets. It's a fun thing that for every sweet it has a little thing she writes about it. I also find it that a lot of cookbooks don't have a picture for every recipe. But this does! It also has what tools, and candies are helpful to use. I also really enjoy the "Gravity defying cakes" like the ramen bowl cake and hamburger cake. They all look so cute! Some of the sweets aren't too sugary or time consuming, too, like the zoo animal banana pops they just mainly require icing and bananas. She gives you a basic recipe for the cake pops, and with that you can practically make any decoration on them!I have recently decorated a cake for my sister that was my original idea, but I feel like I wouldn't have even WANTED to decorate it if this book hadn't gotten me into cooking! I haven't found a better cookbook than this for me!If you like kawaii, and you want to get into cooking, or sort of want to get into cooking, this is the book for you! I just adore this book! If you already have started your cooking journey, and like cute things, I definitely would get this book! These aren't too hard for a beginner, but they sure look like an expert did it! Thanks to this book, I've been really looking forward to every time we get a chance to cook! ^.^ :3 "

The photography is great and the desserts are adorable — different stuff from Rachel’s YouTube show, too. She’s amazingly creative at making cute foods!!My only complaint is that the glitter coating on the hard cover of the book, has flaked off quite a bit. It was a cute idea; but I don’t want that stuff in my food when I cook with the book.

This book is so colorful, creative, and easy to follow. I actually made 2 of her recipe from her channel and they taste amazing. I have tired many cake recipe and she one of my all time favorite, even better then foodnetwork recipe. Great boo for everyone especially beginner.

My 4 y.o. Is obsessed with Kawaii Sweet World. This book is great! The instructions are very easy to follow and the pictures are helpful. We have made two recipes from the book since Christmas and they have turned out similar to the pictures, which is amazing because we are both new to decorating.

I got the hardcover version, and it is gorgeous. Cute (kawaii) pictures and good recipes. Kids are itching to make something!
