Prevent bleeding
I'm using this product to prevent fabric from bleeding in a quilt I am sewing. This is my first time using Retayne. So far it is working very well. I would purchase this again.

Retayne Works.
Retayne works. Often materials will bleed and that can lead to discoloring of other fabrics when washed together. I wash all new fabric individually with a Color Catcher. If the color catcher is discolored, I treat it with Retayne. One treatment is almost always sufficient. I then wash it again individually with a color catcher. If this follow-up wash shows a discolored color catcher, then I usually put that fabric in the scrap pile or trash it. Only rarely have I done 2 Retayne treatments. If the first treatment was insufficient, then usually the second treatment also fails and definitely time to trash the fabric. I have found a variety of colors that bleed - red, blue, green, yellow... with red seeming to be the worst. Considering the time and effort in making a quilt, or the cost of all the other garments in the washer, save yourself the anguish. Wash it alone and if it bleeds, treat it with Retayne. Bottomline, Retayne works.

Must have for quilting and blue jeans!
I recently had a near quilting disaster. I was in a hurry to make a baby quilt and didn't prewash the cotton material. The top was sky blue and white and I backed it with a beautiful maroon print. About half way through the quilting process, I noticed my fingers were a little red. I hoped it was hard work and not bleeding material but after soaking a scrap in a little soapy water, I couldn't deny that the red material was bleeding. I didn't have time to remake the quilt and I certainly didn't want the white on the top to turn pink since it was for a little boy. I searched solutions on the internet and decided to give Retayne a try. I ordered here on Amazon and was able to finish the quilting and binding by the time it arrived. I estimated the amount of material and put the proper amount of Retayne in a warm water wash with the finished quilt and said a few prayers. When all was said and done, the quilt came out of the dryer with no pink. The maroon backing was a bit faded, but I attribute that to the material being over dyed. I will never be without Retayne again and I will prewash all my quilting material with it. I've also used this product on jeans. The blues and blacks seem to stay that way on the jean I've washed with Retayne when they were new. Others seem to fade a bit with each wash. I also used it on some shirts I bought online. Previous shirts from the same company, in different prints, faded badly the first time I washed them. The two new ones I bought in May are still bright after about a dozen washings. I simply washed them in warm water and Retayne when they first arrived and the color seems to be set. I highly recommend this product to other quilters in my area. The only drawback is that we can't find it locally.

Fabric Dye retention solution
Instructions are clear and simple to follow. Has worked well for setting dye in red and blue fabrics. No odor left in fabric. Not inexpensive.

Retanye
I had to do a soak twice but by then all the red bleed was gone. This was used for a white front with a red backing and I was worried about a bleed. I am now ready to put together and not concerned at all. Good job!!

Retayne has significantly increased the vibrancy and washfastness of all my dyed pieces.
I dye a lot of clothes with an all purpose dye that tends to bleed and fade with each wash. I read about retayne online and decided to give it a shot. The first time I used it, I didn’t rinse the dye, I just submerged the over-dyed black garment straight from the dye bath into the mixture of retatne and HOT water and started stirring. Immediately I saw the color of the water turn into a thick black color, but after a few minutes the water seemed to become translucent again. It was like the retayne pulled the dye back into the fabric and locked it in. While rinsing in cold water afterwards, the water became clear within 10-20 seconds. Normally, the dye would continue rinsing out with the water and I’d have to count on using the washing machine to rinse the remaining excess dye. After washing I noticed the fabric was more stiff than usual, but a second wash in cold water took care of that. This stuff works. I’ve even put fabric dyed a light color in the same retayne mixture with fabric dyed black and the black dye didn’t bleed into the lighter colored fabric -though I wouldn’t recommend trying this right away. The colors seem to stick to the fabric a lot better and are more vibrant initially. The color still fades slightly over time, and I’d recommend washing the items in cold water with like colors, but overall retayne has significantly increased the vibrancy and washfastness of all my dyed pieces.

If you want to use in washing machine Only works in a top loaded washing machine NOT front loader. As I had over 4 meters of fabric I placed it in the bath was a little tricky trying to keep water up to temperature for 20 minutes but with the help of a kettle got there in the end,Rinsed out in Cold cycle of washing machine fantastic colour has fixed, instructions does say always wash in cold cycle from now on,so can't comment on what will happen if put on a warmer wash. The material I was using was a poly cotton vibrant green orange and red same procedure for each of the colours, .over 12 meters in total and plenty of colour fix left.
