They come sealed tightly. Sterilised. I pierced my cartilage tonight using one and it was plenty sharp enough to go through quite easy. Safer than a piercing gun. Definitely recommend for the price.

Too small
So I stuck this through my ear only to realise all the jewellery I have which is all 16G might I add, did not fit in the needle. So I pierced my ear for nothing and have ordered the larger size needles.
