Thank you.Original review:Luckily I already had a pen from a Glucose monitor kit at home. So I can still draw blood to use the ketone monitor. But I paid for the whole kit and got ripped off. But the monitor seems to work ok. I've been in ketosis for a few weeks now.Just a tip for anyone wanting to do therapeutic keto: test your ketones and glucose and calculate your GKI. Try to keep that GKI number below 3.I've been doing this and my serious symptoms have disappeared. A neurologist said I either have retinal migraines or a type of seizures. Expensive testing would determine which one. Well either way, therapeutic keto can be beneficial so I decided to try that first. And it is working! I'm really proud of myself and would suggest this to anyone with neurological issues. The body can heal itself when given the right tools: sunlight, movement, and nutrition.

I'm not sure which diet I will start in 2024 but it's that time of the year for Resolutions. At my age, I first will get my doctor's guidance. If the Keto diet is approved, I have the YiLianKang Blood Ketone Meter toolkit to get me started.My husband was a diabetic so I am already quite familiar with using diabetic supplies. Be sure the finger is warm and it's better to prick the side of the finger than using the fingertip. I'm disappointed that a log book wasn't included in the kit. I purchased this as a back up form my primary ketone meter, which has been accurate and consistent for the past 18 months.I needed this meter month months after purchase when strips for my other were out of stock. I am down to my last few strips of the primary and decided to run the two in parallel, in the event there was a discrepancy.I discovered the YiLianKang always reads low, anywhere from .3 to .5! This morning my primary read .9, the first YiLianKang reading was .5?!, Took another reading from the same drop of blood, and it read .2!!?? I double checked the coding and even use a fresh strip from the other container in the box.Unfortunately my return window has expired, so it's being returned to the garbage.I rely on the reading for my health, and this product is a HEALTH RISK! Do not buy under any circumstances!

Decided to get this when I started a fast to see how my ketone levels would respond to fasting and exercise, and this meter does the job! I probably wasted a few strips trying to figure it out, but that's my fault. What isn't my fault is the unavailability of extra strips: they aren't available at the time of this writing (1/21/2023), and haven't been for a while. So if I want to test my ketone level during another fast, right now, I'd have to buy a completely new ketone tester/monitor, that seems a bit ridiculous. If you don't need more test strips right away (it comes with 15), i can definitely recommend this product. If you, however, need more test strips, look elsewhere or prepare to be patient. Note: If you want to conserve the test strips, I'd suggest using one before a workout and a second one immediately after a workout, that would get you about seven days and a good basis of how your progress is going.

It’s a nice kit. Everything you’ll need to measure ketones in your blood is in it. However it only comes with 15 test strips and needles. You go thru them fast, especially at first and the extra strips and needles are a bit pricey. Directions are a little vague.

I have found this meter very easy to use. I contacted the company for meter test solution and they responded very quickly and shipped the solution to me free of charge. I tested the meter and it is working properly. I would recommend this keto meter.

Easy to use, cheapest strips, appears accurate, easy to use. Strips come with a "key" that you insert which changes to the appropriate code so there's no manual inputting of codes for each new bottle of strips.

I normally use the Ketosens meter, but the test strips are very pricey so I decided to give this meter a try because the strips are much less expensive. However, they require a sample nearly twice the size of Ketosens (0.9 microliter vs 0.5 with Ketosens) and the strips are super hard to get to actually draw enough blood into the testing area for the test to work. They start counting down as soon as the blood touches the tip and even if there's way more blood than you need at the puncture site, they won't fill up in time and it errors out. I've been blood testing myself for years at this point and have never had any issue doing it properly, but I've tested myself twice with this meter and have already used up 8 strips because they didn't get enough blood in the strips. Basically any money you save on strips with this meter will be negligible or nil because of this issue. Also having to get such a large sample of blood makes it messier and way less convenient to test when you aren't at home. The testing seems to be accurate though, so it might work well for people who don't need to test very often and aren't worried about using up the strips on testing errors.
